Confluence Turkeyfoot Food Pantry

Confluence Turkeyfoot Food Pantry The CTFP is a nonprofit organization that distributes food to individuals and families in the local area on a monthly basis.

Continued commitment to our local community would not be possible without our dedicated volunteers, donors, and partners.

May 15th was our last backpack distribution day for this current school year.
Thanks to a very generous donation from Immersion Research, we began the program in February. The donation allowed us to purchase the food from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Pantry. With the help of the volunteers from the National Honor Society, we packed 350 (!!) backpacks which represented approximately 886 (!!) meals. (Prior to the Easter break, we sent home enough food to cover six days of no school meals).
It was a learning, rewarding and fun experience. We tried to include some fun activities in each bag, each week (donated) as an added extra.

Other local donors stepped up to assist which provides hope for the next school year. We would like to continue the program next school year but it is solely supported through donations as it is not state or federally funded.

A huge thank you to our donors, and volunteers for helping us provide food to the most vulnerable neighbors in our community: kids.

As for the summer, please stop by the Summer Cafe (at the community center) from June 11th thru August 13 on Mondays and Thursdays from 11am - noon for free Grab 'n Go meals for ANY child under the age of 18. No cost, no sign up needed.
Volunteers are need to unload coolers (10:15am) and distribute food on those Mondays and Thursdays. Should you need further information on the Summer Cafe program, you can email [email protected].

Enjoy your summer (once this cold, rainy weather concludes)!

Friday was our Pantry day and we were surprised at the number of people who showed up. We'd like to think it's because the weather is getting more 'spring like' but not sure. It was nice to see familiar faces that we haven't seen in recent months due to inclement weather.
Our numbers were surprising: 120 families came through the line (we almost ran out of food on some tables!!); 113 seniors; 32 children under 18; and 82 adults. 9 new families signed up for the Pantry. Not sure what to expect next month but we will be as ready as possible and willing to help out where we can!
Also, next month (June) is the last month before everyone has to complete all forms again for the new fiscal year (July). It's a process but we think we have some ways of making it a bit more efficient (we hope!).
Again, we could not do what we do without our donors and volunteers who make it all happen. It truly is neighbors helping neighbors.

Last Friday was a very busy pantry day. We had 105 households go through our line which was comprised of:
23 children
73 adults
108 seniors

We also had 7 new families which consisted of 8 adults, 2 seniors, and no children.

We are blessed to continue helping our neighbors. As long as there is a need and we get donations to buy the food, we will continue to do everything we can to help our neighbors.

The delivery truck arrived today and we unloaded and unpacked for tomorrow mornings Pantry. It took about two hours to get it set up. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who always step up and assist. When putting the milk and egg packages together, we ran short of eggs but luckily, local Roth family farm (Kelly and kids!) stepped in and offered their abundance of eggs to donate! It was greatly appreciated. This month our fresh produce includes: cabbage, sweet potatoes, oranges, apples, onions, beets, potatoes. And of course, lots of canned goods, cereals, pancake mix, syrup, breakfast bars, chicken salad, tuna, Mac&cheese, spaghetti, sauce, elbow macaroni, milk, and eggs. There's a little bit of something for everyone. Hope to see everyone there!

Friday is Pantry day! Don't forget to bring your bags or boxes. If you haven't signed up yet, no worries. You can sign up on Friday as we always have the sign up sheets with us. We begin the line between 8:45am and 9am. Cleanup and breakdown of tables etc usually starts around 9:30-9:45am.

EDIT: We sent home backpacks today (Monday) and will send them home again tomorrow, Tuesday. None for Wednesday due to the early closing.
For the Turkeyfoot backpack program: Friday, 4/3/26, would have been a distribution day but school will have an early release on Wednesday for the Easter holiday/Spring break. Two backpacks will be sent home: one on Monday --AND-- one on Tuesday to accommodate the days off school. We won't send both backpacks home on the same day as that would be too much weight for the kids to carry! Enjoy the time off!!
