Thankfully the bear was grazing on grass, but if there is/was unsecured garbage, pet food or a birdfeeder at this property, it is a very small step for this bear to learn that they mean a very easy, high-calorie meal.
It is vital that every person take responsibility for securing anything that a bear might find interesting and want to check out.
Grizzly 399 has been able to live among people for over 25 years. She is unique in that regard. Please do your part to prevent bears from learning to associate unnatural, human-provided foods with an easy meal.
