LOOKING FOR WORK OVER THE SUMMER? GILLIAM COUNTY YOUTH NEED YOU!
Gilliam County Family Services is accepting applications for a temporary, full time, Oregon Youth Conservation Corps (OYCC) Crew Leader Position. This position is approximately 7 - 8 weeks duration, starting approx. June 8 and ending August 14, 2020. 40hr/week. Schedule will be determined upon hiring. Applicants must be able to perform manual labor in adverse weather conditions.

This employee MUST also:
• Be over 18 years of age
• Have a valid Oregon driver’s license
• Be able to pass a criminal background check
• Attend mandatory training June 17 -19, 2020

The mission of OYCC is to create meaningful opportunities for youth through significant resource projects that enhance the Oregon community. The OYCC has the responsibility of implementing the following:

• To establish a disadvantaged and at-risk youth work program in order to perform conservation work of public value in the most cost-effective manner
• To utilize such a program as a means of needed assistance to protect, conserve, rehabilitate and improve the natural, historical and cultural resources of the state; and
• To utilize such a program to increase educational, training and employment opportunities for disadvantaged and at-risk youth for the purpose of improving work skills, instilling work ethic and increasing employability.

Gilliam County Family Services is accepting applications for the Summer OYCC Crew. OYCC is Oregon Youth Conservation Corps. There will be 5 positions available for this crew. This position is for approximately 7 - 8 weeks of summer employment starting Monday, June 22, 2020. The OYCC program provides a work crew to complete projects such as trail building and maintenance, landscaping, planting, invasive species removal, cleaning, painting and miscellaneous projects. The primary objective of the OYCC program is to gain valuable work skills while completing natural resources projects.
• Students age 13 – 24 are eligible to apply for this program.

Gilliam County Family Services is also accepting applications for the Gilliam County Summer Work Experience Program. Students will be placed in positions around the communities of Arlington and Condon in such areas of School Districts; Libraries; Child Cares; Cities; other various agencies, entities and work sites. The goal of this program is to gain valuable work skills to help the youth become more employable in the future.
• Students age 14`-24 are eligible to apply for this program.

This position is for approximately 7 - 8 weeks of summer employment starting Monday, June 22, 2020
Both of these programs will be paid at the rate of minimum wage.

The overall purpose of these programs are to help the young people of Gilliam County learn work readiness skills. You will learn about work ethics, demonstrating positive attitudes and behavior, and exhibiting good interpersonal relations.

REMINDER Tomorrow, Monday, May 18th is the Condon Food Pantry Distribution. We will start at 9:00 A.M. Drive in off of Potter Street. Please remain in your car until we come to get you signed in. Gilliam County Family Services wants to let the Condon Folks know that there is some assistance with energy/utility needs through the Condon Food Pantry.
