Happy April!! We officially made it to Spring. The Library tends to pick up when the weather gets nicer and the kids are out for Spring break. If you've recently had a spring clean out or plan to have one soon, consider dropping a few books off! 📚📚📚

We made it to March!! One more week and we will have 7pm sunsets again!! Yesterday was the 1st Meteorological Day of Spring 🌼🌱🦋 I hope everyone was able to enjoy the sun while it was here. Here's a tiny break in the News for ya! It's Dr. Seuss's birthday 🎉 Swing by the Library and grab a book. I hear the rain will be back in the next day or so. Dr. Seuss was one of my dad's favorite authors! WHO are some of yours?? And what books are you currently reading?

Happy New Year & Happy January! 🎊🎆🌨️

I can't believe James and I have been here FOUR years now! I took advantage of yesterday's Sunny weather and got outside to scrub the Library. There were only a few moldy books. 😬🦠📚

Also, to those that drop off the silica packets, THANK YOU!

Shuffled a few shelves around. There is 1 shelf thats empty if anyone decides to donate a few. I haven't added anything else to it for the time being until the weather dries out some. We are exactly 60 days away from Spring! 🪻🌞

Earthquakes, landslides, floods, sleet, wind, lightning... And now we have wind storms and a predicted blizzard. 🫩 I know so many of us in these parts of the woods are stressed and exhausted from the week and a half barrage of insane weather occurrences.

Remember to keep your alerts on. Stay up to date on weather. Check in with neighbors, pets and surroundings. If you see something, please say something! Turn around if there is water, trees or road close signs. It is NEVER worth risking your life for. Crews up here are working as hard and fast as they can to make sure we are all safe. Slow down. And if you can, find ways to help your neighbors. A simple check in, smile or small donation can go a long way. We are in for more crazy weather Concrete!! So please stay safe! 🙏🏻❤️ Remember, we are in this together and we are strong!

Good morning community. I hope everyone is staying safe and dry. Apologies for little updates. With the weather and flood warnings I figured Id come on here and update from what Ive last seen and heard. Last I've heard the river is up to 38ft with an expected crest of 44 on Friday. This can change at any moment. Dalles Road Free Library IS in the 100 yr flood plain. It took so much searching around to finally confirm that. All the graphs and websites can be so confusing and hard to read! We are still ok and have a way out as of now 12/11 7:30am Husband is going to check around and get an eye for things. We hunkered down for last night and are okay this morning but may be evacuating soon. When in doubt, GET OUT! And sont drown, TURN AROUND. The end of Dalles was under water yesterday but im not sure if they ever put a fence up to keep folks from passing that side of the rd. James was out at 2ish am checking and Grassmere had what he guessed was about 8" of water over the dip where the culverts meet. Please be careful out there folks! Things can change quickly for better or worse. Have a bag packed and ready to go. The school is open for evacuees. Keep in touch with local groups and neighbors. If something doesn't feel right, again please GET OUT before its too late.

This week Little Free Library steward Ravenna R. shared, "I recently converted my Little Free Library to a food pantry in light of my neighbors, many of whom are already furloughed federal workers, losing their federal food assistance money. Our neighborhood came through beautifully and reminded me that there is power in community care."

If you recognize those golden spines, you didn’t just grow up reading stories…you lived in them. ✨

You probably sat cross-legged on the carpet while someone’s voice brought the pages to life. The corners were bent, the covers were soft, and somehow each one smelled like childhood.

Those books were more than stories, they were little pieces of magic that stayed with us long after bedtime. 💛

We love checking the Library!! 📚🍂 Who else is excited it's November? 🦃🥳🎉 We've cleaned a small space around the library but the leaves came down like crazy after Saturday's wind storm. The sun is shining today! A perfect day to pick up a new book.
