This morning we would like to reflect on Judy Hoffmann. Judy had a stroke several years ago and she lost most of the use of her right arm and hand. That did not stop her from wanting to continue to sew. With a lot of practice and patience Judy is able to continue with her passion of sewing. Judy has helped make several “Quilt of Valor” quilts in the past for veterans. She still is making gifts for veterans by sewing colorful patriotic bags to be hung on walkers and wheelchairs. Recently Judy gifted 15 patriotic bags to the residents at the Warrensburg Veterans’ Home to help them keep tract of their small items attaching these bags to their walkers or wheelchairs. Thank you Judy for your love of sewing and generosity to show love and support to veterans.
We can all remember that every act of KINDNESS is appreciated. In VFW Auxiliary #5649 our #1 goal is “how can we help veterans?”.

The Thomas Comfort Dog Team is serving a Baked Potato/Salad Bar Dinner tonight at 5:30 tonight (2/25) in the St Paul’s grade school gym. They would sure appreciate the support of our community to help raise funds for their committee needs which include visits to the Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

Thomas the Concordia Lutheran Church comfort dog visited at the Warrensburg Veterans Home today. This visit included our own VFW member Pastor Les Mitkos getting to pet Thomas. What a great blessing this program gives our veterans and others in need of comfort and support. I was told one veteran was not responding to the volunteers speaking to him but he did however pet Thomas. They are hoping to get another support dog however they will need financial support from the community to get this accomplished. The VFW Auxiliary has given a donation to help them and hopefully others will consider to do the same. Thank you to the volunteers that go where needed (including requests out of state) to help give comfort and support to others.

Thank you to everyone that donated to our Buddy Poppy Drive Friday to start our Veterans Day celebration. We couldn’t do it without your support.

Friday November 7th the VFW and VFW auxiliary members will be out with the buddy poppies at our usual locations. Any donations received will go to providing veterans with support. We hope to see you on Friday!
