Every $10 duck adoption helps support our Helping Our Neighbors program, providing food, hygiene items, household supplies, and hope to individuals and families across Central and Southwest Virginia.

At Gleaning For The World, honoring and supporting our Veterans is something we are committed to year-round.

Through our Veteran Program, we provide ongoing support to organizations including the Piedmont Area Veterans Council and Community Resources, local VA health offices, the Salem VA Medical Center, and Central and Southwest Virginia Honor Flight programs that serve those who have served our country.

Donations and supplies help provide Veterans with essential items such as personal care products, food, clothing, books, games, comfort items, and additional support throughout the year.

Whether it’s helping prepare for an Honor Flight, delivering quarterly support to the Salem VA, or assisting local Veteran organizations in our region, every donation helps make a difference.

Sometimes the best ideas don’t come from a boardroom… they come from a classroom.

After seeing the Gleaning For The World truck at Sam’s Club, the SCA students at Forest Elementary School did something remarkable, they acted. With the encouragement of school librarian Sharon Danaher, these students organized a collection of baby supplies to help families in need. No assignment. No requirement. Just a desire to make a difference. That’s what it looks like when compassion turns into action.

At Gleaning, we often say we are in the people business, and these students reminded us exactly what that means. Their generosity will help provide essential items for babies and families facing difficult circumstances both near and far. To the students, faculty, and staff at Forest Elementary, thank you for seeing a need and stepping up to meet it.

At Gleaning For The World, we are helping bridge that gap by sending donated Bibles, Sunday school materials, devotionals, and Christian literature to individuals, churches, and communities across the globe.

“Every heartbeat tells a story… and together, we’re helping write it.”

Gleaning For The World is honored to partner with the Bedford Pregnancy Center through our Helping Our Neighbors Program, standing alongside them as they serve families right here in our community.

Through monthly donations, this partnership is helping provide critical resources, encouragement, and now even more life-affirming care with the addition of a new ultrasound machine.

We are grateful for leaders like Lori Lewis, Karla Bomar, and the entire Bedford Pregnancy Center team who continue making a lasting difference, one life and one family at a time.

Because when we come together, hope becomes something people can see… and hear.

At Gleaning For The World, the WINGS program is sewing hope around the world one stitch at a time.

Our volunteers sew and assemble reusable cloth hygiene kits for girls and women in need across the globe. In addition to the kits, volunteers also create quilts, blankets, and towel and washcloth kits. Since the beginning of the program, nearly 20,000 reusable hygiene kits have been distributed.

- Volunteer Carla Lewis shared, “I love that we are meeting the needs of young women around the world. They can continue to work, go to school, and attend church.”
- Shannon Compton added, “We are helping to change the lives of girls and women in other countries. They can look forward to a better future.”
- And as Nancy Coward reminds us, “The fellowship is really important. We have made such wonderful friends.”

On this Mother’s Day, we pause to honor the quiet strength, steady sacrifice, and deep compassion of mothers everywhere.

A mother’s love shows up in countless ways:
- in late nights and early mornings…
- in whispered prayers and worn hands…
- in doing without so someone else can have what they need.

At Gleaning For The World, we are reminded every day that this same spirit lives on through the people who serve others. Whether it’s a mother caring for her family, a volunteer sewing WINGS kits, or a donor giving to meet a need, love in action has a way of multiplying.

Because of that love, a child receives comfort.
A young lady discovers dignity and freedom.
A family finds hope.
A neighbor is reminded they are not alone.
