Wait on The Lord!

Isaiah 30:18 (ESV) “Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.”

If you’ve never just sat and waited on the Lord, this is your sign. Start with even just 5 minutes, and see how He meets you.

When you travel as much as I do, it can be hard to build and keep habits. You never know what life will look like from one week to the next. Different cities and states, different schedules, different rhythms.

But one thing I’ve learned: consistency in God’s presence doesn’t require a perfect routine. It just requires a willing heart.

I’ve been in ministry forty years this month and I’ve done full time evangelism for more than half of that. The older I get, the more I realize how much more time with Him I need before I speak for Him.

Every year I find myself getting up on Sundays earlier and earlier in the hotel just to wait upon the Lord. Mentors have inspired me in this regard. Everyone has to find their own rhythm. Mine includes:

➡️ Journaling.
➡️ Fasting weekly.
➡️ Sitting every day just waiting and not talking.
➡️ The Word daily. (My prescription is 4 chapters a day which may not be practical for others and I don’t always hit that mark). I have just 9 chapters of Ezekiel to read and that will make the 13th time I’ve read the Bible cover to cover. I know it should be more at my age but I am giving it my best shot.
➡️ Meditation. I am reading a New Testament book over and over this year. Four chapters means I read each one 12 times in a year theoretically.
➡️ Pray without ceasing. “God time” doesn’t end when we stand up from our prayer spot (hotel room or wherever). Ready “in season and out of season”. Love the quote from a coach: “If you stay ready you aint got to get ready”.

Joshua 1:8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Day and night. Not “only when life is calm.” God’s Word was designed to travel with you. Start small. Stay faithful. Let Him meet you wherever you are. 🙏

When times were tough, we started giving more, not less. Now we support 24 missionaries across the world for $24,720 a year. So when you support JPM you are supporting missionaries all over the world!🌎🙏

If times are tough for you, consider participating in this upside down kingdom. Trust God financially by sewing those doing the good work.
