The California state budget is being finalized right now, and the most important decisions will be made in the next week. What happens in Sacramento over these next few days will directly affect 50,000+ children and youth in California’s foster care system.

We encourage CASA supporters to contact their representatives with a simple message:

"Thank you for your support of foster youth. Please do all you can to reinstate the $20 million per year in funding for CASA programs in California."

Our Spring Appeal has inspired an incredible response from supporters across our community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has stepped forward to help children in foster care.

The need, however, remains urgent.

Today, more than 100 children are waiting for a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) to stand beside them during one of the most challenging times of their lives. Each child on our waitlist is waiting for the stability, encouragement, and advocacy that a CASA volunteer provides.

We cannot reach every child without your support.

A gift today helps bring a CASA volunteer to a child who is waiting for someone to show up, listen, and help them navigate the foster care system. Whether you give $100, $1,000, or any amount that is meaningful to you, your investment helps ensure more children receive the consistent support they deserve.

Take action today. Make your donation and help us reduce the waitlist, one child at a time. Together, we can transform outcomes for children in care and create brighter futures for those who need us most.

We are grateful for Assemblymember Mia Bonta's leadership and advocacy in championing our $20M funding restoration ask so CASAs across California can continue meeting the needs of children and youth in foster care and the juvenile justice systems.

We encourage our communities to keep calling your representatives to ensure funding for Court Appointed Special Advocates is included in the State's final budget.

A teenage boy in Contra Costa County’s foster care system is waiting for someone to show up consistently for him.

We are seeking a CASA Volunteer who can provide patience, compassion, and steady support to a young person living with significant autism and limited verbal communication. While he may not communicate through words, connection, trust, and presence still matter deeply. A caring adult who is willing to meet him where he is can help create a sense of safety and stability in a world that often feels isolating and overwhelming.

For youth in foster care, consistent relationships are rare. Having one trusted person who continues to show up—during difficult moments, appointments, transitions, and uncertainty—can profoundly shape a young person’s sense of belonging and well-being. That kind of advocacy helps reduce isolation while building the foundation for long-term emotional security and trust.

You do not need prior CASA experience to help. We will provide the training and support you need to prepare for this role.

Sometimes the most powerful message a young person can receive is this: you are not alone.

"There is no surface large enough for me to be able to express the feeling of gratitude I have for you..." 📝

Naomi wrote this to Monica, the CASA Volunteer who stood by her side through 7 years in foster care, helping her become the first in her family to graduate high school and attend college.

Right now, children in our community are waiting for an advocate to believe in them. You don't need a special background to make a difference—just a commitment to show up.
