Since becoming a CASA Volunteer in September 2024, Ashley has seen firsthand the growth a child experiences when a consistent, caring adult shows up. 💙
Her youth is only four years old, and Ashley has watched him make meaningful progress in his speech, vocabulary, and interactions with other children. During their visits, she helps him learn colors, shapes, and new words and gives him opportunities to spend time around children his own age. Over time, she has seen him become more confident communicating and more comfortable with others.
As her youth has transitioned from one home to another, Ashley has continued to advocate for what he needs and be a steady presence through those changes.
That consistency has helped them build a special bond. His caregivers have shared that he knows when it is their day to get together, and when Ashley arrives, he immediately smiles and gets excited to go with her.
For anyone considering becoming a CASA Volunteer, Ashley encourages them to go with the flow, have fun, and know that visits may not always go as expected. She also emphasizes asking questions and leaning on our staff, fellow volunteers, and the child’s support team when you need guidance.
Ashley shares, “Becoming a volunteer really is worth it. Know you will make a difference in a child’s life!”
We’re grateful for volunteers like Ashley who show up consistently, advocate with care, and celebrate every step of a child’s growth. ✨
