The Piedmont Community Band is a performance oriented, non-profit organization comprised of volunteer musicians. The band presents concerts in the spring, fall, and Christmas seasons. The band also performs at other special events in the area such as outdoor celebrations in the park and for other events upon invitation. We have musicians ranging in age from accomplished high school musicians to si

lver seniors. Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Hickory Ridge High School in the band room. The band operates on a 2-semester schedule, January - May for the spring season and September - December for the fall and holiday season. We also perform during the summer on occasion as opportunities present themselves.

HEADS UP!

THERE WILL BE NO POTABLE WATER AT THE Carolinas Community Band Festival 2026 TOMORROW.

As you may have heard, the city of Kannapolis is experiencing a contaminated water issue. While the city has it under control, they are currently flushing and treating the entire water system, which will take approximately 24 hours to clean and test.

Toilets will still work and hand sanitizer will be supplied, but there will be NO water to wash your hands, or drink. Please plan accordingly and bring extra water/etc to drink and use if needed. Obviously we didn't love this news, but if the option is a dry festival or no festival, we're gonna choose the former!

SEE YOU TOMORROW!!

I would love to see some Piedmont Community Band members participate in this!

To commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, we're inviting North Carolinians to participate in One State, One Score: “America the Beautiful.”

This statewide digital project invites instrumentalists, vocalists, dancers, visual artists, and creators of all kinds to contribute from wherever they are. Participants download materials suited to their skill level, record their performance independently, and submit their videos online by April 30.

Submissions will be woven into a single, statewide virtual performance premiering July 4 as part of North Carolina’s America 250 celebrations.

Learn more and take part in this virtual celebration at ncsymphony.org/one-state-one-score

T-40 days to the Carolinas Community Band Festival 2026 !

This year we welcome back the Horn Society of the Carolinas. Founded in 2009, the Horn Society of the Carolinas (HSoC) brings together amateur and professional horn players from across the Charlotte region to celebrate the rich, powerful sound of the horn choir. Meeting twice monthly, this dedicated ensemble performs a wide range of music that showcases the horn’s four-octave range and remarkable tonal color.

HSoC has appeared as guest performers at regional festivals and horn workshops and is committed to community outreach through its annual student horn workshop for 7th–12th grade players in North and South Carolina.

Blending artistry, camaraderie, and education, the Horn Society of the Carolinas continues to foster a vibrant horn community throughout the region.

Personally I can't wait to hear them again - they were beautiful last year and we can't wait to see what they play this time!

Have you marked your calendar for Carolinas Community Band Festival 2026 ? We are 52 days away!!

This year we are welcoming a new group to our Festival, Gaston Symphonic Band!

The Gaston Symphonic Band (GSB) is a volunteer community concert band based in Gaston County, North Carolina. The band is under the direction of Mark Ewing, Jr.

Founded in 1993, the band was created to provide local musicians—both amateur and professional—with an opportunity to continue performing beyond school or military band experiences. Its mission has centered on promoting concert band music, supporting arts education, and enriching cultural life in the community.

The ensemble is composed of musicians from a wide range of backgrounds, including educators, retirees, students, and professionals. It operates as a nonprofit organization and relies on community support, sponsorships, and donations.

Today, the Gaston Symphonic Band remains an important part of the cultural landscape of Gaston County, continuing its tradition of community engagement and accessible live concert band performances.

We are so excited to have them join us. Don't forget to mark your calendar - April 25, 2026 at Kannapolis Performing Arts Center!
