The DAMF has confirmed the presence of spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) in Salem. This marks the first field detection of spotted lanternfly in New Hampshire. There is no evidence of an established population at this time and additional multi agency surveys are underway to determine the extent of the detection.
Spotted lanternfly is an invasive pest already affecting parts of the Northeast, including southern New England and New York. It poses risks to vineyards, nurseries, and other agricultural and ornamental plants. While it does not harm people, pets, or structures, it can become a nuisance as infestations become more established over time.
Adults can be recognized by their distinctive spotted wings and are currently active. Identification resources are available at:

Residents and businesses are encouraged to report suspected sightings—including photos and location details—at:

Cut flower growers: we’re getting the crew together!! 🎪

On October 20, spend the day with other flower farmers and leading local experts talking about the things that actually matter when you’re growing flowers for a business — production strategy, right-sized sales projections, making hard decisions, challenges, wins, and what we’re all trying to figure out in 2027.

The 2026 Cut Flower Growers’ Conference will include education for both newer and more experienced growers, demonstrations, panel and group discussions, and dedicated time to connect with other growers. As the growing season winds down, make some space to connect with people who understand the work, compare notes on the season, and bring your questions to the table.

Manchester, NH
October 20 | 8:30 am–4:30 pm
$75 (morning refreshments + lunch included)

Registration is open now on the UNH Extension website

"I believe agriculture matters, and I want to support an organization that supports it!" ~NHFB Member

Last week at its Summer Picnic, NHFB, a nonpartisan membership-based organization, offered its members a chance to converse with and hear from some of NH's candidates running for the United States Senate: Scott Brown, Karishma Manzur for Senate, and John Sununu. After mill & garden tours and a great farm-to-table meal at Sanborn Mills Farm, candidates stepped up to share their stump speeches and answer questions from the audience.

Community. Connection. Advocacy.
