Dear Friends of Project Eden/Adelante,
On behalf of the Project Eden Team and the Board of Directors, I want to thank you for your prayers and support over the past year! As we approach Christmas and another New Year, we ask you to prayerfully consider a donation in support of the vital work of Project Eden Adelante. Your gift may be the one that helps a family experience God’s grace at a time when they need it most.
Project Eden has had a very productive and impactful year, as the following brief report will illustrate:
• Seven Community and Family Gardens and six School Gardens provided food for 18 families (96 people) and 179 students, who helped plant, tend, and harvest thousands of pounds of corn, beans, and table vegetables. Thousands of pounds of additional vegetables and fruits were grown in the Hogar del Nino gardens, and distributed to many additional families in need.
• The Healthy Beginnings project, addressing maternal and child health, continued to expand, now doing outreach services in the remote community of Quebrada del Danto in addition to the program’s base at Hogar del Nino in San Francisco de la Paz. The program provides families with regular pre- and post-natal check-ups and vitamins, and regular distributions of supplemental, nutritional food, including an egg-a-day for the children.
• With the addition of two new locations, the Clean Water project continues to grow, and Project Eden now supports filtration systems in 59 communities, providing critical access to clean water for nearly 14,000 people.
• The Adelante program has nearly 100 students registered and continuing in school, thanks to support from their ‘Padrinos y Madrinas’.
As you can see, Project Eden has continued to work hard over the past year to help improve the quality of life for people in the San Francisco de la Paz region of Honduras. Our ability to provide this support for thousands of families depends on all of us doing the best we can to honor and respect the dignity of those who struggle to meet their basic needs.
