We celebrated the hard work of students and residents at The Guild at our annual awards ceremonies this week. It's a time to recognize the commitment each individual has to reaching their goals and milestones throughout the year. Congratulations to everyone on their achievements and thank you to the parents, guardians, friends, family, and staff who cheered them on! 🎉

The Guild also awarded special recognition to State Representative Carmine Gentile for his unwavering disability advocacy and to Dr. Sue Connors for her dedicated tenure on our Board of Trustees.

In celebration of Educator Appreciation Week, The Guild School is recognizing staff members who have gone above and beyond to support students in and out of the classroom. Classroom teachers, teaching assistants, clinical and vocational staff, student services, transition services, and residential services all work together to monitor progress and adjust the IEP to ensure that each student is progressing toward their highest level of achievement.

Each classroom at The Guild School has a dedicated team of educators who help support students and their individual learning goals. Classroom staff form deep bonds with their students as they assist them in different tasks throughout the school day.

Today, help us give a shout out to classroom teachers Kaitlyn and Norman for Teacher Appreciation Day!

Music therapy is powerful 🎶

The Guild hosts weekly music groups for youth and adults at our offices. Several residences attend programs on their own, like Sophia and her housemates. "It’s provided my daughter and her peers with a lot of stimulation, fun, and learning," says Linda, Sophia's mom.

Check out Roman Music Therapy Services and their ongoing blog series highlighting stories of impact.

Bridging the Gap: Transitioning to Adulthood Through Music As we enter our 20th year at Roman Music Therapy Services (RMTS), we’re pausing to celebrate the communities we’ve had the privilege of growing alongside. To mark Read More

The MDDC is putting together their 5-year State Plan, which includes goals, objectives, and planned activities for 2027 through 2031.

People with developmental disabilities, family members, and professionals are invited to provide feedback about what is important to include in the plan by completing their community input survey.

Your voice is important!

The Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council (MDDC) is doing a survey to learn what is important for people in the developmental disabilities (DD) community living in Massachusetts.

We want to hear from people with developmental disabilities, family members, professionals, and others.
We will include information from the survey in our new Five-Year State Plan. This plan will guide our future work and how we support people with developmental disabilities (DD) and their families in Massachusetts.

In recent years, there has been an increase in media representation of individuals with IDD pursuing romantic and intimate relationships. These stories highlight something many families and professionals already know: people with IDD want and deserve opportunities to build meaningful connections, just like anyone else.

House Managers Junior Paris and Isaiah Anjoh discuss why education about healthy relationships is essential for adults with IDD and how residents at The Guild are building skills, confidence, and independence.
