SUBMIT TO THE SPIRIT: WITNESS IN GOD’S POWER
Tuesday | October 13

Acts 1:8 (NIV)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Exhortation
Jesus did not tell the disciples to witness through their own strength. He promised the power of the Holy Spirit. The pattern is clear: Spirit, power, witness. You do not have to be impressive, have perfect words, or control the outcome. Surrender your fears, depend on God, believe the Spirit is with you, move when He opens a door, invite Him to guide your words, and trust Him with the results.

Your responsibility is faithfulness. The Holy Spirit supplies the power for faithful witness.

Reflection
Fear can make us postpone conversations we know we should have. We may think we are not knowledgeable enough, articulate enough, or spiritually prepared enough. But Jesus knew the disciples would need more than human ability, so He promised the Holy Spirit. The same truth encourages us today: we are not witnessing alone. Think of someone you have hesitated to speak with about Christ.

Instead of focusing on your limitations, focus on God’s presence. Ask Him for
courage, wisdom, compassion, and an open door.

Prayer
Holy Spirit, I surrender my fears and weaknesses to You. Help me remember that I do not witness in my own strength. Give me courage when I fear rejection, wisdom when I do not know what to say, and sensitivity when opportunities arise. Teach me to trust You with the results. Make me available, obedient, and faithful to Jesus. Amen.

SEE CHRIST: KNOW WHO YOU ARE WITNESSING ABOUT

Acts 1:8 (NIV)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Exhortation
Before Jesus sent His disciples to speak, He reminded them that they would be His witnesses. A witness must know the person about whom he testifies. Your testimony begins with Christ—not yourself. Remember His grace, forgiveness, salvation, provision, and faithfulness. Your story is valuable because Jesus is in it. When you speak about what God has done, keep Jesus at the center. Do not merely tell people how Christianity changed you. Tell them how Christ found you,
saved you, transformed you, and continues to make you new.

Reflection
A witness has something—or Someone—to testify about. Sometimes we can become so focused on our experiences that Jesus becomes secondary in our testimony. Yet the gospel is not primarily the story of what we have accomplished for God; it is the story of what God has accomplished through Christ. Take time today to remember His faithfulness. What has Jesus forgiven? Where has He provided? How has He changed you? Let gratitude renew your love for Christ and give you something meaningful to share with others.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me see You clearly and know You deeply. Remind me of Your grace, forgiveness, salvation, and faithfulness. Keep my testimony centered on You rather than myself. May everything I say about my journey point people toward Your goodness and mercy. Give me a heart that continually remembers what You have done and gladly makes Your name known. Amen.
