There are over 500 grocery stores across New Hampshire. But having a store nearby isn’t
enough—people need reliable ways to get there. Community transportation bridges that
gap, bringing residents to grocery stores, pharmacies, utility offices, banks, and more,
especially in rural areas.

This , we celebrate the drivers, the routes, and the
services that keep New Hampshire connected to what matters most.

This Community Transportation Month, we extend our deepest thanks to the drivers who keep New Hampshire moving — one ride, one passenger, one stop at a time.

Whether you’re behind the wheel of a:
🚍 Bus
🚐 Shuttle or vanpool
🚗 Volunteer driver vehicle
🚑 Paratransit or non-emergency medical transport

You are the face of community transportation.

You show up early, drive safely in all weather, help riders with mobility needs, and make sure people reach the appointments, jobs, schools, and services that matter most.

To every community transit driver in New Hampshire:

Thank you for your patience, compassion, and commitment. You’re not just driving — you’re changing lives.

For many in New Hampshire, community transportation is the bridge between home and the classroom. It ensures that students, adult learners, and families can access schools, colleges, and training programs—no matter where they live.

From preschool programs to trade schools, community colleges, four‑year universities, and online learning, New Hampshire offers many colleges, universities, and technical schools across the state. That means for thousands of students—especially those in rural parts—transportation isn’t just about getting from A to B; it’s the route to opportunity.

This , we recognize the critical role transit plays in expanding educational access and building stronger futures across our state.

Community transportation is more than just a ride — it’s a vital link to health and well-being for thousands of New Hampshire residents. From rural towns to city centers, these services ensure that people can access medical appointments, treatments, and essential care without barriers.

This , we celebrate the essential rides that bring our communities to health, hope, and healing. And we honor the drivers, coordinators, and systems that keep New Hampshire moving — and connected to the care we all deserve.

In New Hampshire, community transportation means more than just buses. It includes all the ways residents get where they need to go: shuttles, vanpools, volunteer driver programs, pedestrian networks, paratransit, non-emergency medical transportation, and more.

These services support access to healthcare, jobs, groceries, education, and recreation — especially for those without a car or who can’t drive.

October is Community Transportation Month, a time to recognize and raise awareness about New Hampshire’s robust but often overlooked network of public and community transit options.

Whether it’s reducing traffic and pollution or improving access to opportunity, community transportation keeps New Hampshire connected — affordably, efficiently, and equitably.

On election day, nearly all the public transit systems in New Hampshire will be offering free rides to polling locations during voting hours. Voters going both to and from the polls can board both regular fixed route buses and ADA complementary paratransit services free of charge on participating systems.

In addition, in some regions of the State, free voter shuttles will be offered, such as in Merrimack and Belknap Counties, and at the University of New Hampshire.

Riders should visit their local transit system website for specific schedules and details related to voting day transportation. A complete list of all public transit providers in New Hampshire can be found at www.nhtransit.org/transit-providers
