Scouts from Cub Scout Pack 38 Concord, NC slept under the sea last weekend during our winter camping event at the Georgia Aquarium. The behind the scenes tours and activities, not to mention sleeping by the shark tank, were such an incredibly unique and educational experience for everyone.

Today, the Central North Carolina Council joins our nation in honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In Scouting, we often talk about leaving the world better than we found it. Dr. King lived that mission every day, teaching us that "Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"

His vision of leadership, service, and character aligns with the very values we instill in our Scouts:

A Scout is Helpful: Committing ourselves to acts of service in our local communities.

A Scout is Kind: Treating every person with dignity, respect, and fairness.

A Scout is Brave: Finding the courage to stand up for what is right, even when it’s difficult.

As we celebrate his dream today, we encourage our Scouts, leaders, and families across central NC to reflect on how we can build a more inclusive and compassionate future together.

Our scouts participated in two fun service projects last month that allowed them to show off their creativity, artistic skills, and do a good turn!

1) Tiger scouts supported Color A Smile, a nonprofit organization that distributes cheerful drawings to senior citizens, our troops overseas, and anyone in need of a smile: https://colorasmile.org/

2) All scouts made holiday cards in support of the 2025 Holiday Cards for our Military Challenge: https://militaryholidaycardchallenge.com/

Great job scouts!
