On September 21, 1949, several area churches met to form a group whose purpose would be to further ecumenical religious life in the Concord area. On February 24, 1950, by-laws were adopted for the Greater Concord Council of Churches. The original membership was comprised of Protestant and Catholic Churches. In the mid 1980's the constitution was revised to become the Greater Concord Interfaith Cou

ncil and membership was extended to the Jewish Synagogue, Bahai Faith, Concord Friends Meeting, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Unitarian Universalist Church, and other religious bodies interested in furthering our mission.

Attorney John Laboe, a member of Christ the King Parish, was the guest speaker at our first 2026 Lenten Luncheon on February 26. John talked about Shepherd's Call, a program which provides affordable legal services to the community.

Jennifer Archer & Jasmine Gathright of the NH Juvenile Justice Reform Commission were the speakers at our Lenten Luncheon on March 12 at Bow Mills United Methodist Church. They talked about the mission and responsibilities of the Commission and answered lots of questions from the audience. We all learned a lot! John Keegan and Anthony Stevens were the speakers at our Lenten Luncheon on Thursday, March 5 at Christ the King Parish They spoke about "Protecting God's Creation" a ministry which seeks to promote good stewardship of the earth.
The next luncheon is this Thursday, March 12, at Bow Mills United Methodist Church. Jennifer Archer and Jasmine Gathright from the NH Center for Justice & Equality will speak about juvenile justice. All are welcome to join us from noon -1:00 pm. Cost is $7

Friends, the 4 bills seeking to re-instate the death penalty will be heard on Jan 14th & Jan 15th. Here's how to take action:
1.) Plan to show up in-person to sign-in in opposition and submit your written testimony. OR . . .
2.) Sign-in remotely today! For January 14th hearings, click here, https://gc.nh.gov/house/schedule/eventDetails.aspx?event=2054&et=1. find “remote sign-in” to sign-in to oppose AND submit written testimony. That link allows you to find 3 of the 4 bills [HB1749, reinstating the death penalty for murder offenses; HB1413, reinstituting the death penalty in cases of capital murder; and HB1737, relative to reinstating the death penalty for certain offenses against minors under 13 years of age]
