NAMI Cabarrus was honored to submit his nomination in recognition of his exceptional contributions to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental health conditions.

Dr. Basnet was recognized during NAMICon 2026, one of the nation's largest gatherings of mental health leaders, advocates, and changemakers. This prestigious award, established in 1990, honors 13 psychiatrists who champion access to care, advocate for research and funding, shape state and local services, provide comprehensive treatment, and educate families, individuals, and the public to fight stigma and discrimination.

We are grateful for his service in our community and proud to see his contributions recognized on a national stage!
