90+ VOICE CHOIR PRESENTS
"CELEBRATE AMERICA 250"
The Piedmont Choral Society (PCS) and guest community singers invite you to their 20th annual "All Patriotic Music" concert/benefit series. Come enjoy exciting and inspiring patriotic music, performed by the combined 90+ voice choir. All service personnel and their families will be honored. All branches of service will be acknowledged, with veterans of each branch presenting their representative flags, along with a special tribute to our POWs and MIAs, and to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Our very own home-town hero, Cabarrus County's "Music Man", Mr. Cy Maulden, will sing the #1 song of the World War II era, "I'll Be Home for Christmas". Mr. Maulden, a veteran of WWII who saw active duty in Italy, was chosen to be a trumpet player in the very first traveling Army Band. Mr. Maulden is 102.5 years old, and still going strong - forever the patriot.
Since this event began in 2006, over $38,000 has been donated to Cabarrus County non-profits through the generosity of our audience members. The Thursday, June 18 concert will benefit Paws of Hope, a program of k-9 Capers Training Academy. Paws of Hope is a local non-profit that rescues and trains shelter dogs as assistance/service animals and donates them, at no charge, to local veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The founder and director of this non-profit, Donna Rogers, a certified professional dog trainer, will share her mission to help our veterans and our shelter population and introduce Molly Hope, an assistance/service dog trained by Rogers, and Molly Hope's recipient/owner, Gary Ritter, a veteran of the war in Iraq, who will share how Molly has impacted his life. Donations from the June 18 concert will go to Paws of Hope.
Concerts are Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19 at 7 pm and Sunday, June 21 at 3pm at First Baptist Church, 200 Branchview Drive, Concord. A free will offering will be accepted. All are welcome.
Concerts are free and no ticket is required. For more info, contact 704.699.6053 or [email protected].
