NOFA-NH The Voice of Organic Agriculture in New Hampshire We help people build local, just, and sustainable food systems.

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Hampshire (NOFA-NH) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to building a community of organic food activists and educated consumers to help support New Hampshire's local organic farming community. We feel that organic farming is important to creating a sustainable future and recognize that more resources and greater education is needed to he

lp farmers, gardeners, and consumers learn to work together to build a support network. NOFA-NH recognizes that farmers, gardeners, and consumers of organic products share a "community of interests:" a common need to grow and consume safe, healthy, nutritious, great-tasting food; and a common interest in preserving a healthy environment that nurtures all of us. In an age of industrial agriculture, we're working to re-establish a shared sense of pride and participation in a community-based food system that links local farmers with local consumers, and rewards them both equally. NOFA-NH actively promotes organic, regenerative, ecologically sound farming, gardening, eating, and land care practices for healthy communities.

The House passed its Farm Bill — but it falls short for organic farmers. Here’s what’s missing:

❌Flat funding for the National Organic Program, despite the fast pace of growth in the organic marketplace, which reached more than $76.6 billion in sales in 2025, up 6.8 percent from 2024.

❌No relief for rising certification costs, even as costs have risen more than 85% since 2012

❌Flat funding for organic research, which effectively means a cut for organic research support.

❌ Missing tools to help farmers transition to organic and reach growing markets.

The Senate now has its chance to do better. This is a critical moment for the organic community to make our voices heard. As a member of NOC, NOFA-NH urges you to write your Senator today and urge them to fight for organic farms.

On April 30, the House passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 — the most significant movement on a new Farm Bill since 2018. While the vote is an important milestone, the bill falls short of what organic farmers and businesses need.

The Senate now takes up its version of the Farm Bill. This is a critical moment for our community to engage.

Preparing an Organic System Plan is essential for farmers interested in making the transition to certified organic production. We know that drafting this document for the first time can feel a bit daunting. Join NOFA-NH and UNH Cooperative Extension for a recorded webinar on How to Prepare an Organic System Plan featuring local certifiers. In this webinar, farmers and producers interested in transitioning to organic production will hear from three regional certification agencies: MOFGA Certification Services, Baystate Organic Certifiers, and Vermont Organic Farmers. Representatives from each agency will walk participants through the process of creating an OSP for their certification agency. We'll conclude the session with a Q & A to get all your questions answered. Mark your calendar and join us on Wednesday, June 3rd, from 12:00 - 1:00 pm to learn more!
