Meet the Chef: Chef David Sargent of Union Street Cafe - Concord 🍴

Chef David Sargent is the chef and owner behind Union Street Café in downtown Concord, a scratch kitchen built around simple, good food with a creative twist.

Chef David’s approach is straightforward: take quality ingredients, use flavors creatively, and let the food speak for itself. That philosophy shows up across a menu that serves breakfast and lunch all day, with everything from classic breakfast plates and pancakes to burgers, sandwiches, and other hearty favorites.

For Food for Foundations, Chef David is trading his regular menu for our mystery basket challenge. He’ll be given a surprise selection of ingredients and challenged to turn them into something worthy of the competition.

We’re excited to see how Chef David’s creativity comes through when he doesn’t know what’s coming next!

Yesterday, we gathered to celebrate a new home, a new chapter, and all the people who helped make it possible.

We’re proud to dedicate this home to its new homeowner and grateful to every volunteer, donor, partner, and supporter who played a part in getting us here. A home dedication is always a special reminder that this work is about more than construction. It’s about creating a place where a family can build what comes next.

A special thank you to the Bonds family for their support throughout the build and for flying in to celebrate this milestone and personally pass the keys to our new homeowner. We’re grateful they could be part of such an important moment 💙

The kitchen is getting ready, and we’re starting to introduce the chefs who will be stepping into the spotlight for Food for Foundations. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be getting to know the local chefs bringing their skills, creativity, and a little competitive spirit to the table.

A huge thank you to the team at Hilbish Ford for spending the day with us in the dirt! 🌱 As we put the finishing touches on our next Habitat home, these volunteers rolled up their sleeves to tackle the landscaping and help create a warm, welcoming place for our local family to call home.

The finishing touches are what make a house feel like home. 🏡

We’re excited to share that the Canopy Housing Foundation has awarded Habitat Cabarrus $4,500 to help provide cabinetry, hardware, and interior finishing materials for a home currently under construction.

Dana Conner Richardson dedicated her life to helping families build stronger futures through Habitat for Humanity Cabarrus County. She believed deeply in the power of education and the opportunities it creates. Established in her memory, the Dana Conner Richardson Memorial Scholarship helps Habitat homeowners and their immediate family members pursue education beyond high school, empowering them to build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

Congratulations to our 2026 Dana Conner Richardson Memorial Scholarship recipient! We are honored to celebrate this milestone with you and look forward to seeing all you accomplish. Your future is bright, and we're proud to be a small part of your journey.
