A safer way home makes all the difference. 💙

For Carlos and his family, a new wheelchair ramp means more than easier access. Their previous ramp lacked handrails, and his wheelchair would often get stuck in the gravel, creating daily challenges and safety concerns.

Thanks to our Critical Home Repair Program and donors who made it possible, Carlos now has a safe, professionally built ramp at home. His mom, Mariana, shared photos of his excitement when he arrived home from school and saw his new ramp for the first time.

In her message to our team, Mariana called the ramp a “ray of light” for their family and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved.

Even more special, her husband has offered to use his 11 years of experience as an electrician to volunteer with future Habitat projects and help another family in need.

This is what community looks like: neighbors helping neighbors, families gaining greater independence, and kindness inspiring more kindness.

Ramp by ramp, our Weekday Warriors continue to make a difference 🔨

Over time, these volunteers have helped build ramps for our Critical Home Repair Program, making homes safer and more accessible for homeowners who need it most.

Each ramp may be a different project, but the impact is the same: greater independence, safer access, and one less barrier to getting in and out of home.

We’re grateful for the Weekday Warriors who continue to give their time, skills, and energy to make these projects happen.

A Habitat home represents more than four walls and a roof. It’s an opportunity for a family to build a stronger future, made possible through the support of donors, volunteers, businesses and community partners.

And this fall, Habitat Cabarrus will open applications for its homeownership program, creating another opportunity for local families to take the next step toward homeownership.

Food, competition, and a whole lot of fun at Food for Foundations! 🍴🔥

The mystery basket was revealed, the chefs got cooking, and the competition was on. From creative dishes to some serious crowd favorites, it was a great night filled with good food and even better company.

A huge thank you to our chefs for taking on the challenge, our sponsors for helping make the event possible, our volunteers and board members for all their hard work, and everyone who came out to eat, vote, and support Habitat.

Chef Veronica will be stepping into the kitchen at Food for Foundations, where she’ll take on the mystery basket challenge and put her creativity to the test. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with!
