Congratulations to the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire who received a grant from The 1772 Foundation in partnership with the N.H. Preservation Alliance! The funds will go towards repairing the front sill, replacing clapboard, and painting the exterior of their headquarters in Portsmouth. One way to inspire the next generation to care for old buildings is to get them close to the action. During our immersive vacation-week programs, participants watch as sawyers Brian and Logan Clough float logs in the 1770s mill pond at Mills Farm , pull them into the 1829 Sawmill, and saw them into lumber using water power. Tune in to New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) on Monday, May 11th for a story that highlights our work with next-generation preservationists and their dedicated mentors. Reporter and Morning Edition producer Jackie Harris visited the N.H. Preservation Alliance's career exploration program for high school students during April school vacation week. Program airs at around 7:45 a.m. and again at 9:45 a.m. on the 11th.
