90 minutes before our reading at The Old Manse this afternoon, the rain was torrential - as forecast. One hour beforehand, the rain was light and winding down - also as forecast. Before the end - well, here are our poets (L to R) - Jean Kreiling, Liane St. Laurent, and Merryn Rutledge, standing in the sun. (Note the little puddles, though.)

Thanks to everyone who kept the faith, trusted the forecast, and joined us under the dry tent! We had a great time.

NEPC Member Elizabeth McMullen wants everyone to know about a last-minute opportunity!

She is delighted to report that she will be reciting a haiku she wrote in 5th grade at the Elizabeth Street Garden McNally Jackson poetry event tonight, Aug 23, 2026, at 5 pm ET.

More info here: https://loom.ly/2_y0p0I

Elizabeth dreamed of becoming a writer way back then, writing poetry while sitting on a schoolyard field of clover, surrounded by honeysuckle vines.

She is honored to share this poem in an NYC garden of art, sculpture, and flora. That three and a quarter leaf clover she found is giving her a little bit o' Irish luck.

McNally Jackson is an independent bookstore with five New York locations.
