The New Hampshire Women’s Foundation is proud to launch the Gender Justice Cafe, a series of statewide conversations around important topics that impact equity for women and girls in New Hampshire and beyond. This series of programming will take a deeper dive into some key areas that intersect with gender equity, such as racial justice and climate justice.

The Gender Justice Cafe kicks off on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2021 at 10 a.m., with a 90-minute Zoom panel, exploring gender justice on a global scale. The panelists include New Hampshire leaders and organizations who are working to elevate and raise the voices of women and girls internationally.

“A commitment to gender justice and equity requires us to think not just locally, but globally,” said NHWF CEO Tanna Clews. “We look forward to convening these leaders on International Women’s Day to help us envision how we can achieve a more gender just world.”

Panelists for this inaugural conversation include:
Elsy Cipriani, Executive Director of New Generation, Inc., and New Hampshire Women's Foundation board member
Blair Demers, Executive Director of Education For All Children (EFAC)
Mary Kiguru, Kenyan Country Director of Education For All Children (EFAC)
Katherine Kolios, Executive Director of Rain for the Sahel and Sahara
Carolyn Musyimi-Kamau, Program Manager for Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success (ORIS)

We hope you'll join us! RSVP on Facebook and invite your friends: International Women's Day — A Global Look at Gender Justice — and be sure to officially register for the link on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_kLDuqeIoTYuLcmxlWTb5iw

Our virtual after school youth program support program is now running. We meet on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1:00 pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. We have volunteer students from St. Anselm college who will assist with Math, Science, social studies and English (reading and writing) since we won't have college visit trips this fall, we will invite some colleges for virtual discussions with our youth. We still have a few slots for immigrant youth and volunteers. A meeting link will be shared before each session once you register. We also have a few chrome books for students who do not have access. Thanks to the Concord Library Foundation and the Rotary club for sponsoring our youth program.

Our story

New American Africans (NAA) is an immigrant-led, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization which welcomes and serves African immigrants and refugees living in Concord, New Hampshire.

New American Africans (NAA) was formed in 2004 to support newly arriving African immigrants and refugees in their journey of integration and adaptation to a new life in New Hampshire. NAA creates opportunities for immigrants and refugees in New Hampshire to be empowered to take care of ourselves and our families, to be productive and participating members of society, and reach our fullest potential to belong and contribute to the New Hampshire community. This work requires a thoughtful and multi-faceted approach, with a network of staff and volunteers coordinating key programs and services. To meet the demand, we are working to expand our capacity to provide the support, education and advocacy necessary to ensure a wholesome integration of newcomers into our community.

Mission & Vision

The mission of New American Africans is to strengthen and sustain immigrants by gathering for mutual support and education, promoting leadership development and sharing values and culture that will enrich the broader community.
