Update (1/8/26): Thank you all for the love and well wishes for this handsome guy! 💛

We’ve since learned that his name is Ezra, and his story is incredible.

Ezra was adopted from a different rescue about a year ago, along with his brother—they’re a bonded pair. Unfortunately, the adopter broke her contract with the rescue and gave the cats away to someone she didn’t know.

👉 Friendly (but important) reminder: most reputable rescues include a clause requiring animals to be returned to the rescue if they can’t be kept. This exists for reasons exactly like this.

After that poor decision, both cats were found alone and starving, each by a different Good Samaritan. One kind human brought Ezra to LRHS for safekeeping late on Saturday. The other took Ezra’s brother to a vet to be scanned for a microchip and ensure he was healthy before welcoming him into their home.

Both Good Samaritans posted on Facebook and checked with neighbors trying to locate an owner. Truly next-level kindness. ❤️

And here’s where the internet actually does good:
The folks who had Ezra’s brother saw this very post, reached out to us, and let us know they had him! Thank you to everyone who shared this post and our other posts.

Yesterday, the original rescue came to pick up Ezra after coordinating with the family caring for his brother. The plan is to reunite the boys at the rescue—and it’s very likely they’ll be adopted together by the family who stepped up for Ezra’s brother.

Animal rescue is a lot like life.
There are a few bad apples who just don’t care.
But there are so many more people who do—Volunteers, Veterinarians, Good Samaritans, and Animal Welfare teams working tirelessly to fix what others break.

Sometimes good wins. Sometimes it doesn’t.
This one? A win with a capital “W.” 🐾✨

If you believe in the work these folks do, please consider making a donation today to help us keep fighting the good fights. Every bit helps. 💛

OP -This cat was brought into us on Saturday, January 3rd before closing from the Gilmanton, NH area. We did scan him and he had a microchip. We know that he is a neutered male snowshoe approximately 1 years old. We believe we know who the owner is, we just haven't been able to get into contact. If anyone knows the owner of this sweet boy or knows where he comes from, please feel free to reach out to us! (603-539-1077)

UPDATE: Angus has been adopted!

Location: New York, NY

In New York we have lovely Angus who is 4 years old. He's a beautiful sable male that needs a nice new home. He is up to date on his vaccinations and veterinary care - having last seen a vet in November 2025.

Angus is incredibly affectionate. He loves being pet, cuddling, having his back, chin area, or the top of his head gently scratched, curling up on someone's lap, etc. It's very clear that his favorite place to be is around his family/people. He purrs very loudly as well and is constantly nuzzling us (e.g. doing "head nudges").

Angus sometimes gets the "zoomies" as we call them at night and will seem to chase things that are not there, running from one end of our apartment to the other before settling down again. Angus also loves to play and sleep in anything tent-like, e.g. when our son makes a pillow fort, if we are traveling and have our suitcases open he will bury himself amongst all our clothing, he loves sitting in laundry baskets, etc. Angus is very talkative and we find it amusing that when our daughter makes sounds/does baby talk he always responds to her with a similar sounding meow, it's like they are having their own conversation.

Angus has not lived with other cats or dogs so we don't have knowledge of how he'd engage with other animals.

Angus is incredibly gentle, relaxed, and affectionate with the owner's infant daughter who just turned 1. He has been that way for the entirety of her life - even when, as a baby, she has been understandably noisy or unpredictable in her movements. For example, she shrieks excitedly when she sees him and he is never startled or scared, she has pulled at his fur a few times while learning to pet him gently and he's never responded with any aggression, she runs around him while he's stationary (e.g. due to resting or cleaning himself) and he always just sits or lays down calmly and nuzzles her. Angus is also very affectionate and engaged with the eldest child who is 9 years old. They rest together, Angus is nearly always sitting by his side or following him around and Angus loves when the son plays games with him (e.g. chasing toys, playing under blankets, etc.). It has been noticed that the only times Angus seems to behave less well is when he wants attention from our son (or us) or thinks he is playing when he's not. For example, if the eldest son is relaxing under his bed covers and Angus sees his feet move he has tried to pounce on or wrestle with them. He has also jumped at legs mostly at night if he seemingly wants to play. This has caused some scratches and nibbles from mouthing fingers during play.

This is a private adoption. If you would like to adopt Angus please use the "Send Message" button to apply. I don't always catch interested people if you simply comment on the post.
