✨ Before the first day of school, the work has already begun.

Across our Central and St. James preschool locations, our incredible teachers and staff are busy preparing classrooms, organizing learning centers, decorating spaces, and getting everything ready to welcome children back.

Every book placed on a shelf, every activity planned, and every classroom carefully prepared reflects the love, dedication, and care our team brings to early childhood education.

We are so grateful for the amazing educators and staff who create safe, nurturing, and engaging environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Your passion helps build the strong foundation every child deserves.

To our funders, partners, volunteers, and community supporters, thank you for making this work possible. Together, we're investing in children, supporting families, and preparing the next generation for success.

💼 Child care is more than family support. It's workforce infrastructure.

When families have access to trusted child care, parents can work, pursue education, and build a stronger future. When children have quality early learning experiences, they gain the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

At Families First, our ParentChild+ , Home Based Child Care (HBCC), and bilingual preschool programs help strengthen families, support providers, and build healthier communities.

We're grateful to the funders and partners who invest in this important work. Your support helps expand access to books, coaching, early learning resources, provider networks, and family support that make a lasting difference.

Together, we can build an early childhood system that helps children thrive, families succeed, and communities grow. 💙

📚 Literacy changes families for generations.

Families First in Cabarrus County is honored to receive a $10,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation () to support Increasing Adult Literacy Within Young Families.

This project helps parents strengthen their English, literacy, and educational skills while supporting their young children's early learning through our ParentChild+ home visiting program. By connecting adult education with early childhood development, we are helping parents grow in confidence, strengthen family learning, and create brighter futures for their children.

This grant will support 70 adults through English language learning, adult basic education, and GED or high school equivalency preparation over the next 12 months.

We are deeply grateful to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for continuing to invest in families across our community. Together, we are helping parents become stronger learners, stronger advocates, and their children's first and most important teachers.

💛 Every family deserves child care that works for them.

Every family's child care journey is different, and every choice deserves respect.

"They are learning in homes, with trusted home based child care providers, family members, friends, and neighbors who are often the first educators a child knows."

At Families First, our ParentChild+ Home Based Child Care (HBCC) program builds on the strengths providers already bring by offering culturally responsive books, educational toys, personalized coaching, and early literacy resources that help children thrive.

When families feel welcomed and providers have the support they need, children benefit, families grow stronger, and communities flourish. 🌱

💙 Strong partnerships create stronger communities — today we thank you,!

For the past three years, Corning Community Impact has done more than invest in Family Home Child Care — they have shown up.

Through continued volunteerism and in-person support, Corning has helped Families First walk alongside licensed and licensed-exempt child care homes across our community. Because of this partnership, providers are feeling more seen, valued, and reminded that their work matters deeply.

When families have access to quality home-based child care, children thrive, parents can work with confidence, and communities grow stronger.

We are grateful for Corning Community Impact’s continued investment and volunteerism as we meet the right needs at the right time while making a bigger statement about the importance of Family Home Child Care providers — in our community and beyond.

Thank You to the Partners Who Help Us Meet the Moment

Across North Carolina, child care programs and family child care homes have faced extraordinary pressure from rising costs, the end of stabilization funding, staffing challenges, and reimbursement rates that have not kept pace with the real cost of care. Families are feeling that pressure through fewer options, longer waitlists, and more uncertainty.

At Families First, we have felt that strain too. But with the support of funders, faith partners, employers, individual donors, volunteers, and community partners, we have continued moving toward families instead of stepping back.

Because of that support from Truist Greater Cabarrus Foundation , our faith community, and individual donors, our ParentChild+ CORE/HBCC home-visiting program can bring books, educational toys, coaching, and relationship-based early learning into homes and trusted child care settings.

Because of that support, our bilingual immersion preschools can prepare young children for kindergarten through play, language, family engagement, and safe, joyful learning.

Because of that support, we can continue saying yes to families who need help navigating vouchers, preschool options, and the next best step for their child.

To our current funders and partners: thank you. Your support is not just a gift to one program. It is an investment in school readiness, family stability, provider sustainability, and the local workforce. 🙏

And to funders, employers, civic leaders, churches, and community members who are asking how to help: this is a critical time to invest. Children are still ready to learn. Providers are still showing up. Families are still doing everything they can. We need the community around them.

To discuss partnership, funding, or support, call 704-786-5613 or email [email protected].

Families choose child care in different ways, and those choices deserve respect. 💛

Many families choose home-based child care because it feels personal, trusted, culturally familiar, flexible, affordable, or simply the best fit for their child.

“The most important preschool classroom may be a living room, a kitchen table, a play corner, or a provider’s home where children are ready to learn.”

At Families First, we believe home-based providers, family members, friends, and neighbors are a vital part of the early childhood system. They help parents work, keep children connected to caring adults, support siblings staying together, and create stability before kindergarten.

Our ParentChild+ /North Carolina ParentChild+ CORE/HBCC work honors what providers already do well while adding books, educational toys, coaching, early literacy routines, and social-emotional support. This is not about fixing providers. It is about equipping the people families already trust.

🌱When families feel welcomed, providers have tools, and early learning is accessible in English and Spanish, children, parents, employers, and our whole community benefit.

🚨 A three-year-old reminded us why this work matters.

Not with a report.
Not with data.
Not with a presentation.

Just six words:

💬 "My mommy read me this book at home!"

That's the moment every early childhood professional hopes for.

A child excited about learning.
A parent engaged at home.
A trusted provider helping make it happen.

That's what happens when learning doesn't stop at the classroom door.

❤️ It starts in homes.
