Thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s NHCUC Higher Ed Health Roundtable event, contributing to a thoughtful and engaging discussion focused on student health and well-being.

We are especially grateful to our host campus, Southern New Hampshire University, and to the campus leaders and health professionals who joined us from Colby-Sawyer College, Franklin Pierce University, Keene State College, Manchester Community College, New England College, NHTI-Concord's Community College, Plymouth State University, Rivier University, Saint Anselm College, and SNHU.

The roundtable featured a powerful keynote presentation from The Renfrew Center, which focused on expanding campus knowledge and strengthening institutional support for students with eating disorders. NHCUC presidents and chancellors met yesterday with Governor Kelly Ayotte for a productive discussion on how New Hampshire’s higher education sector can more effectively align with the state’s workforce needs and priorities. The conversation underscored the critical role our colleges and universities play in preparing the skilled workforce that fuels New Hampshire’s economy.

Key areas of focus from the discussion included developing a unified workforce strategy between higher education and the private sector, expanding cross-institutional collaboration to strengthen talent pipelines, and partnering with the state to reduce barriers that prevent students from choosing New Hampshire institutions and building their careers here.

We extend our sincere thanks to Governor Kelly Ayotte and to all of our member institutions who joined today’s conversation: Rivier University, NHTI-Concord’s Community College, Nashua Community College, Lakes Region Community College, Great Bay Community College, Manchester Community College, Saint Anselm College, Colby-Sawyer College, Franklin Pierce University, Southern New Hampshire University, the University of New Hampshire, and the University System of New Hampshire. Special thanks to Rivier University for hosting the meeting.

How is New Hampshire preparing its future workforce?

NHCUC President Mica Stark recently joined Kim DeRego, Vice President of Enrollment at University of New Hampshire, on WMUR-TV’s NH Business with Fred Kocher to discuss the opportunities that higher education brings to our state, workforce, and economy.

🔹 “Higher education as a sector in New Hampshire attracts a lot of students. We are the biggest in-migrator of talent in the state that our businesses need—particularly in these high growth areas like life sciences, nursing, healthcare, biomanufacturing.”

Despite statewide budget challenges, New Hampshire’s colleges and universities remain committed to protecting the student experience and preparing the next generation of workers our economy depends on.
