Preserving Concord’s Artillery Tradition Since 1774 The Concord Independent Battery On April 18, 1775, British Regulars marched to Concord with orders that “If you meet with any Brass Artillery, you will order their muzzles beat in as to render them useless.” When they arrived in Concord on th...

Patriots Day 2026 was a brisk day. When the sun shone it almost felt like spring. We had a great time parading through town. The ceremonies at the Old North Bridge and the Old Manse did a wonderful job commemorating the beginning of the Revolution, 251 years ago. As always, we enjoyed the opportunity fire and honor our past.

The Battery held our annual luncheon following the parade. We welcomed the new members of the past year; Jim Cope, Tom Cope, Emory Holmes, and Leland Kohler-Rice. We also welcomed our newest junior member Gavin MacGregor who has been attending the parade and helping with the horses alongside his grandfather for many years.
Past president Robert Eaton was honored with the Donald Prentice Award for his many years of dedication. Most recently his significant undertaking of researching and writing a revised and up to date history of the Battery.
Past Captain Peter Myette was also honored with the Donald Prentice Award for his 12 years as Captain and long standing commitment to the Battery and particularly the continued dedication to the horses.
Thank you to all our supporters and to all those who waved from the sidelines of the parade. We appreciate all of you!

April 19, 2026. The Battery started the morning with Dawn Salute at 6:00am as Samuel Prescott arrived by horse to warn of “the regulars on the march.” We then welcome the Tough Ruck as they made their way over the Old North Bridge.
