Your clothes, sheets, towels, workout gear, and even rain jackets may come with more than just fabric.

Some textiles are treated with chemicals to make them stain-resistant, wrinkle-free, or water-resistant. Others may contain residues from the manufacturing process. The good news? You don’t have to replace everything overnight to make better choices. Start here: https://bit.ly/4w6J9yb

🏷️Look for trusted certifications like GOTS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and Bluesign.

⚠️ Be cautious with claims like “stain-resistant,” “wrinkle-free,” and “water-resistant,” which can involve chemicals like PFAS or formaldehyde.

🌿 Choose natural fibers when you can: cotton, linen, wool, silk, and h**p.

🧼 And wash new clothes before wearing them to help reduce some residue from production.

This is the kind of sheet-pan dinner we love: simple enough for a weeknight, but flavorful enough that it does not feel like “healthy food.”

This Lemon Miso Sheet Pan Tofu with Roasted Cabbage uses a smart tofu trick: tear it instead of cubing it. Those rough edges get beautifully crispy in the oven, then soak up a bright, savory lemon-miso glaze made with ginger, garlic, and lemon.

🌿 It’s plant-based, satisfying, and built around ingredients we love to see more of, including cabbage, tofu, miso, garlic, and ginger.

Save this one for the next time you want a nourishing dinner that actually sounds good at the end of a long day!

Lemon Miso Sheet Pan Tofu with Roasted Cabbage Recipe By: Ananda Kaplan Serves: 4 With under 25 minutes of hands-on prep, this recipe delivers big flavor with minimal effort. Both the tofu and cabbage roast at the same temperature for the same amount of time, so dinner comes together without the usu...

☀️ Did you know SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 50 only bumps that up by 1%? That small difference often comes with a much higher dose of questionable chemicals.

When it comes to sunscreen, more isn’t always better—especially for your health. Many high-SPF products contain ingredients linked to hormone disruption, allergic reactions, and even environmental harm.

So how do you protect your skin and your health this summer?

✅ Choose mineral sunscreens with non-nano zinc oxide or titanium dioxide
🚫 Avoid ingredients like oxybenzone, octinoxate, and homosalate
🌊 Look for Reef Safe labels to protect marine life too

At The Anticancer Lifestyle Program, we believe small, informed choices can make a big impact—on your well-being and the planet. 🌍

A new CNN report is raising serious concerns about the way chemical safety reviews are being handled inside the EPA.

According to the report, current and former EPA employees say scientists have been pressured to downplay potential risks from chemicals already used in everyday consumer products, including household cleaners and cosmetics. The article also notes that many chemicals currently on the market have never been fully assessed for their impact on human health or the environment. The EPA disputes the allegations and says its chemical safety decisions are grounded in science. But for the average person standing in the cleaning aisle or reading the back of a product label, the larger issue remains:

🫣 It can be really hard to know what to trust.

That’s exactly why we created the Nontoxic Home pillar of our free Anticancer Lifestyle course: to help you understand where everyday exposures may show up and which practical swaps can make a difference.

🧹 A good place to start? Your cleaning routine.

Potatoes have been through enough. 🥔

Thanks to diet culture, they often get lumped into the “bad food” category, but potatoes are actually nourishing, affordable, satisfying, and incredibly versatile.

A few potato reminders worth saving:

🥔 Keep the skin on when you can. That’s where you’ll get more fiber, potassium, iron, B vitamins, and phytonutrients.

🥔 Preparation matters. A potato is not the same thing as a plate of deep-fried fries loaded with heavy toppings. Try roasting, baking, boiling, or stuffing them with colorful, plant-forward ingredients.

🥔 Choose the right potato for the job. Russets are great for baking and mashing. Red potatoes hold their shape well in soups and salads. Yukon Golds are creamy and all-purpose.

🥔 Store them in a cool, dark, dry place, not the refrigerator.

🥔 Green spots? Cut them away before cooking.

The humble potato really does deserve better. Read the full blog here: https://bit.ly/47aPrT3

On National Cancer Survivors Day, we’re thinking about what it means to move forward after a cancer diagnosis.

In this conversation with Gabe Canales, Men's Health Advocate, founder of Blue Cure, our co-founder Meg Hirshberg speaks to something so many survivors wrestle with: the difference between blame and empowerment.

At The Anticancer Lifestyle Program, we never ask people to look backward and wonder what they “should have” done differently. Most of the time, we simply don’t know why cancer happens.

Instead, we focus on what can support you moving forward: evidence-informed lifestyle behaviors that may help reduce risk, support well-being, and give people a greater sense of agency in their lives.

There are no guarantees. But risk reduction is powerful. And feeling empowered matters.

To every survivor, thriver, caregiver, and person living with cancer: we honor you today and every day.

A little glimpse inside Meg’s living room, where the candles are lit, friends are gathered, and our Whole Lemon Blueberry Upside Down Cake is ready to be sliced.

This recipe is bright, beautiful, naturally gluten-free, and made with good-for-you ingredients like blueberries, almond flour, olive oil, honey, and whole lemons. Using the whole lemon gives the cake its fresh citrus flavor, keeps it moist, and adds extra plant compounds from the peel and pith.

It’s the kind of recipe that feels perfect for spring and summer: simple, a little surprising, and special enough to share.
