Concord - Afton Sunset Rotary Are you a "person of action"? Do you want to get more involved in your community and give back? Then you are a potential Rotarian. Join us every Tues. at 6 p.m.

in the Community Hall at High Branch Brewing Co. for a meeting. What is Rotary? Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, help build goodwill and peace in the world, and enjoy the fellowship of those who have united to accomplish these objectives. This is exemplified in the official Rotary motto: “Service above Self”

The objective of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster

FIRST – The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND – High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD – The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life;

FOURTH – The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peach through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united. THE ROTARY FOUR WAY TEST:

Rotarians are adults of good character and good business and professional reputation, who hold or have held an executive position with discretionary authority in any worthy and recognized business or profession. The Organization of Rotary

Rotary is essentially a grassroots organization, with most of its efforts being carried out at the club level. The district and international structure is designed to support the clubs and help them serve their local and world community. Rotarians are members of a local Rotary Club, which belongs to the global association of Rotary International (RI). Each club elects its own officers and enjoys considerable autonomy within the framework of Rotary International.

💙 Captain Robert Kirk Swims for Polio! 🏊‍♂️

Big challenges call for big hearts, and Robert Kirk is diving in to make a difference! 💪
On October 19th, Robert will take on an incredible 4-hour endurance swim to raise funds for Rotary’s mission to eradicate polio worldwide. Every lap represents hope, every donation makes an impact, and every bit of encouragement helps move us closer to a world free of polio!

At our Tuesday evening meeting, we heard about 1CAN from founder Sheryl Kluge. Members brought canned goods in support of 1CAN's mission. From Blessing Boxes to snack bags for school children to supplemental food for Meals on Wheels recipients, 1CAN and their volunteers work to keep Cabarrus County citizens fed. 🥫🧃🍴 Please see the photos below to see how you can help!

We finished out the Rotary year strong this past Tuesday. Assistant District Governor for Cabarrus County, Dana Ritchie, joined us to share the news that our Club won an EPIC Award for our Public Image work, and also to install our new Club President, Justin Moore, for the year ahead! 🏆

We sincerely thank our outgoing Club President, Robert Freeman Jr., for his leadership over the past year. We had a great year under his guidance, and we appreciate his unwavering dedication to our Club and to the cause of Rotary. Thank you, Robert! 🙏👏

We're looking forward to the new Rotary year ahead and are excited about the upcoming changes we will begin implementing as we continue our new strategic planning process. We want to thank Brenda Vass, CEO of NC MedAssist, for speaking to our club during last night's meeting. 🙏

Founded in 1997 as MedAssist of Mecklenburg, NC, MedAssist began by serving low-income uninsured seniors in Mecklenburg County before expanding statewide in 2009 to meet the growing need for affordable medication access across North Carolina. Today, NC MedAssist is the only statewide nonprofit pharmacy in North Carolina, dedicated to improving health outcomes by expanding access to medication for uninsured and under-resourced North Carolinians.
