Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander recently visited the Bartlett Experimental Forest, where she learned about the important research and education partnerships taking place between the forest and the University of New Hampshire.

Forestry Professor Mark Ducey shared insights into the forest's work and its role in advancing sustainable forestry practices. Joining the discussion was NHTOA member and NH Timber Harvesting Council Chairman Jake Bronnenberg, a UNH Thompson School graduate and logging contractor from Loudon.

Also pictured are Wendy Weisinger, forester with the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests and Chair of NH Project Learning Tree, and Steve Roberge of UNH Cooperative Extension and the NH Project Learning Tree Board.

Thank you to all who continue to support forestry education, research, and the future of New Hampshire's forest products industry.

The work being conducted at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, the Bartlett Experimental Forest, and the Massabesic Experimental Forest is vital to understanding forest health, productivity, and resilience as Northern New England faces evolving environmental and economic pressures.
These research forests provide invaluable long-term data and scientific insight that directly benefit forest management, conservation, and the forest products industry across the region.

The NHTOA is encouraged to keep these facilities operational and remains hopeful that this commitment will continue for the Bartlett and Massabesic Experimental Forests as well.

Ann Davis's farm, Woods Without Gile, was regionally recognized due to research from Bartlett Experimental Forest. The potential closure of the vital research facility threatens forest management and knowledge.
