Are you ready to take your Scouting journey to new heights? The Central North Carolina Council is teaming up with the North Carolina Army National Guard for an unforgettable, action-packed morning where Scouts can complete all the requirements for the Aviation Merit Badge!

📅 When: July 15th | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

📍 Where: NC Army National Guard Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) – Salisbury, NC

🚨 What’s in Store?
This isn't just a classroom session—it's a hands-on. Scouts will rotate through incredible interactive stations, including:

The Fleet: Get up close, climb inside, and talk shop with the crews of:

Two (2) UH-60M Black Hawks (Operations & Maintenance)

One (1) HH-60M Medical Black Hawk (Medevac & Domestic Ops)

One (1) AH-64E Apache (Attack & Flight Ops)

Two (2) Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182s (Learn about CAP and search & rescue!)

The Tech: Tour the actual Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower, test your skills in the ATC Simulator Room, and hop into a Computer Flight Simulator.

The Gear: Check out Aviation Life Support Equipment and Special Mission gear (Night Vision Goggles, Thermals, and military equipment).

Build & Fly: Every Scout gets to build their own wooden model airplane kit and test-fly it!

Future Careers: Chat with military recruiters about exciting aviation career paths and incredible education benefits.

By visiting these stations and participating in the hands-on experiences, Scouts will have the opportunity to complete the requirements needed to earn their Aviation Merit Badge.

Are you ready for a prehistoric adventure? Registration is officially OPEN for the 2026 Gold Rush District T-Rex Expedition Twilight Camp!

Scouts BSA Announces SPL Summit (Launching September 2026)
Scouts BSA is launching the SPL Summit, the next evolution of its National Youth Council, designed to strengthen youth voice in shaping the program.
The SPL Summit will bring together Senior Patrol Leaders from across the country for quarterly virtual sessions with national program leadership to review ideas, provide direct feedback, and help guide future initiatives.
Key highlights include:
** Quarterly national online gatherings for SPLs
** Direct input into program ideas and improvements
** Early access to upcoming resources and initiatives
** Opportunities to help shape the future of Scouts BSA
The initiative reinforces Scouts BSA’s commitment to youth-led leadership by ensuring the voices of troop leaders remain central to program development.

The Central North Carolina Council is thrilled to partner with the North Carolina Army National Guard for an incredible, hands-on Community Aviation Day! Calling all Scouts BSA Members—this is your chance to get an up-close look at military aviation, tour an active facility, and jumpstart your Aviation Merit Badge!

Date: Wednesday, July 15th

Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Noon)
