✨ Big week for the ROC USA network.

📍 We’re in Detroit from September 14 to 17 for a full slate of strategy and connection: planning alongside resident leaders from the ROC Association, convening our Board Strategic Day, and participating in the I’M HOME Conference, hosted by Lincoln Institute of Land Policy.

🤝 The convening brings together residents, practitioners, and housing advocates from across the country working toward a shared mission: securing permanent affordability and democratic resident ownership in manufactured home communities.

That's a wrap on Convening 2026.🎉

Looking back on the week, what stands out isn't any one session: it's the throughline. CTAP staff moved from talking about scaling resident ownership in a changing environment, to working through the financing and policy questions that make it possible, to navigating board governance and conflict. Different rooms, same commitment. 🏠

There was a ballgame in there too ⚾, and a lot of good conversation over meals and coffee breaks ☕. It's the kind of relationship-building that doesn't show up on an agenda but carries the network the other 360 days of the year.

Day 3 — and a wrap on Convening 2026! 🏘️ The morning opened with internal team meeting time, followed by Carrie Portrie PhD and Lu Butterfield-Ferrell (NH Listens) leading "Moving Through Conflict and Misinformation in ROC Boards."

We closed things out with our Closing Session and lunch 🍽️ , hosted by Elise Foerster (ROCNH) and Lisa Spiek (ROC USA).

Back from lunch and diving into the afternoon!

🎉 After a full day of icebreakers, big-picture conversation on the future of resident ownership, and breakout sessions covering co-op leadership, debt refinancing, manufactured housing policy, and acquisition finance, we headed out for an evening at Great American Ball Park — Reds vs. Athletics! ⚾

Now on Day 2: David Wehrwein (Thistle) and Lisa Spiek (ROC USA) are leading the network in reflecting on yesterday's takeaways and diving into the Network Game Board. Johanna Beachy (ROC-NH) and Juleny Santa Cruz, M.Ed. (ROC USA) presented the First Year ROC Curriculum, building a common foundation for supporting and training a ROC in its first year of ownership. And before heading to lunch, Amie Hacker (Champion), Mike Tweden (Champion) and Amy M. Chhom (ROC USA) led their Infill 101 session.
