๐Ÿด Did You Know?

Conservation agencies help protect the open spaces, farms, and trails that are vital to New Hampshire's equine community. These conserved lands provide places to ride, support local agriculture, and preserve the landscapes we enjoy today and for future generations.

Now is your chance to help ensure that horses remain part of that future! By sharing your experiences and explaining why access to conservation lands matters, you can help shape future plans for trails, recreation, and open space.

๐ŸŽ Then & Now: Riding Lessons

Back in the 1980s, many riders could take a private lesson for the price of a pizzaโ€”around $10โ€“$20. Fast forward to today, and lessons commonly range from $50โ€“$100+.

The horse world has changed a lot over the years, but the joy of learning to ride remains the same.

๐Ÿ’ฌ What was your first lesson like? We'd love to hear your story!

The New World Screwworm has recently been detected in the United States, raising concerns for horse owners, livestock producers, and animal caretakers.

New World Screwworm larvae can infest open wounds, causing serious health issues for horses and other animals. Regular health checks and proper wound care are important steps in prevention.

โœ… Inspect your horse regularly for cuts and wounds.
โœ… Keep wounds clean and protected.
โœ… Contact your veterinarian if you notice unusual swelling, irritation, or signs of infection.

๐Ÿด๐ŸŒฒ Support Where the Hooves Go! ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿด

Every great ride starts with a well-maintained trail. Through the New Hampshire Horse Council's Support Where the Hooves Go (SWTHG) program, grants are awarded to help improve, maintain, and expand equine trails and trailheads throughout New Hampshire.

โค๏ธ Your support helps keep trails accessible for riders today and for future generations.

Do you know of a trail project, organization, or agency that could benefit from a SWTHG grant? Contact Trails Committee Chair Debbie Briscoe at [email protected] for more information.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Please consider making a donation to support this important program. The amount we can award in grants depends entirely on the generosity of supporters like you.

Can't donate right now? Sharing this post is another great way to help!
