October is Pro Bono Month, making this week’s Walk a Mile in Their Shoes event with Thrive Survivor Support Center a meaningful reminder of the difference we can make when we show up for our community.

Team 603 Legal Aid raised more than $1,000 to support Thrive’s Concord crisis center and its critical services for survivors of domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence. We were also proud to hear from Paul Maggitto, a pro bono volunteer with 603 Legal Aid’s DOVE Project, who spoke about the importance of standing with and supporting survivors. Thank you to everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, and stood with survivors, including our four-legged teammate Flynn, who took home the Best Paws/Top Dog award!

To kick off National Pro Bono Month, 603 Legal Aid joined our partners at New Hampshire Legal Assistance and other legal service organizations for the launch of the New Hampshire Branch of the Federal Government Pro Bono Program.

Volunteer attorneys are an essential part of our work, helping more people get the legal support and representation they need. This new program will create opportunities for federal attorneys and paraprofessionals to support legal service organizations across the state, expanding the pool of legal professionals available to help Granite Staters.

We’re grateful to the volunteers who share their time and expertise with our clients and are excited to see new opportunities for them to make a difference!

603 Legal Aid’s Housing Unit is offering free, monthly online Housing Presentations for community organizations serving vulnerable individuals and families across New Hampshire.

This initiative reflects 603 Legal Aid’s commitment to reach more people in underserved areas of the state and connect them with practical legal information, resources, and support related to housing and eviction.

What can a Housing Presentation cover?

603 Legal Aid partners with organizations to provide presentations tailored to the needs of their audiences, covering key housing topics that include:

- The lawful eviction process and what tenants can expect
- Common misconceptions about eviction and housing law
- Procedural defenses that may be available to tenants
- Answers to general housing-related questions
- How individuals can access 603 Legal Aid’s services online

Presentations are offered once a month, held online, and are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join 603 Legal Aid for our annual Fall DOVE CLE event to strengthen your advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and stalking.

📅 Friday, October 23, 2026 | 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
📍 NH Bar Association | Concord, NH

This free training covers domestic and sexual violence protection orders, appeals, and new Sexual Assault Restraining Orders taking effect January 1, 2027. The program will also feature keynote speaker Katrina Brownlee, a survivor of domestic violence and transgenerational trauma who has dedicated her life to advocacy, healing, and empowerment.

Attendees will receive CLE credit, lunch, and light refreshments. In exchange for this free training, attendees commit to accepting at least two DOVE cases during the following year.

Today marks the start of five days of charitable gaming in support of 603 Legal Aid!

From today through Tuesday, September 22, head to Revo Casino and Social House in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and play for a purpose. While you’re there, enjoy their $5 daily lunch deal from 12–3 PM.

Don’t forget that a portion of the gaming proceeds from these dates will support 603 Legal Aid’s work providing free civil legal services to Granite Staters. Come out to play for a purpose, grab lunch, and help support access to justice.
