The NH legislature is wrapping up for 2026! Here's what made it, what didn't, and what still needs your action.

Headed to the Governor: bills on child care access and addictive products. Call or email her office and ask her to sign.

Didn't make it this session: children's behavioral health insurance coverage, recovery housing safety standards, and measures addressing certain addictive products. We'll be back for those next year.

Signed into law: SB 608, expanding support for family and kinship caregivers. βœ…

Advocacy isn't just for politicians or insiders. It's for all of us. 🩡

At New Futures, we help everyday Granite Staters speak up for themselves, their neighbors, and their communities β€” for affordable child care, kids' mental health, substance use treatment, public health, and support for older adults.

Your voice is advocacy. And during NH Gives, your support helps make sure it's heard.

Despite years of study and promises of voluntary solutions, the NH Legislature has ended another session without addressing the mental health care gap for privately insured children. We are deeply disappointed, but we are not done.

Thank you to every advocate and partner who showed up this session. πŸ’š Your energy, persistence, and bravery made a real difference. We also want to thank Governor Kelly Ayotte for recognizing the urgency of this issue and for her commitment to New Hampshire's kids.

We will keep advocating for real solutions so Granite State kids and families can get the right care at the right time.

πŸ‘Ž UPDATE: Governor Ayotte signed House Bill 348 into law, adding a residency requirement for local welfare programs. While advocacy helped improve the bill during the session, it still creates a new barrier to accessing emergency shelter, food, and medication at a time when more older adults and families need support.

May is Older Americans Month! 🌟 This year's theme, Champion Your Health, puts prevention and wellness at the center of healthy aging.

New Hampshire is the second oldest state in the nation. At New Futures, we're advancing policies that support age-friendly communities and expand access to services so every Granite Stater has the ability to age where and how they choose.

What happens when the House and Senate pass different versions of a bill? πŸ€”

One chamber can accept the changes, reject them entirely, or send the bill to a small group of lawmakers, called a Committee of Conference, to work out a compromise.

This morning, NH Mom Hub joined community organizations and maternal health advocates at the State House as Governor Kelly Ayotte officially proclaimed May as Maternal Mental Health Month in New Hampshire. This is a meaningful commitment to the mental and emotional well-being of mothers and families across our state. πŸ’œ

We are proud to be part of this work and honored to stand alongside so many dedicated partners who believe that every mother deserves care, connection, and support.

🌟 Meet Angela Rice Fletcher, a New Hampshire resident who went from feeling powerless navigating complex systems to having Governor Ayotte know her name.

After spending her career supporting people with disabilities and raising her daughter with a disability, Angela turned her personal experience into action. She's published op-eds, created voting accommodation tools, FaceTimed the Governor, and participated in New Futures’ inaugural Empowered Families Advocacy Program cohort.

Angela does it all for her daughter, and because she made a promise to herself that no one should have to feel alone trying to navigate systems that weren't built for them.
