Are you a young person between the ages of 11 and 25? Do you identify as le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, questioning (LGBTQ) or consider yourself an ally? If so, you should come check out one of the three youth programs under the RCC umbrella! The Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County hosts three groups: the first group is geared towards LGBTQ and Ally youth ages 18 to 25 wit

h a focus on leadership and personal development. The second group is for LGBTQ and Ally youth ages 14 to 18, with a focus on identity development, creating social connections, and 1-on-1 mentoring. The third group is for middle schoolers ages 11-13 and focuses on identity discovery and activism in schools. All groups strive to promote self acceptance and a positive self-identity for all youth in a healthy and fun environment. Our youth are diverse in their interests, and we like our programs to reflect that. That's why the Youth Program is proud to offer a variety of activities for it's three youth groups. Activities include: game nights, movie nights, discussing hot topics, planning youth events, peer outreach, interactive workshops, guest speakers, quarterly youth dances, and tons of cool field trips. You can learn more about upcoming events and activities below. RCC's Youth Program is a safe-space to meet other LGBTQ youth and allies. So come be yourself, develop new skills, and have some fun hanging out with us!

We’re excited to welcome jamil to Rainbow Community Center's team. With over 10 years of experience working with youth, jamil brings a deep commitment to supporting trans, Black, and brown young people through youth-led programming that centers young people’s voices and leadership.

From the Bay Area, jamil is passionate about building programs that connect LGBTQIA2S+ youth to the outdoors, art, and—most importantly—to themselves and to each other.

At 13 years old, the staff at the time Daphnee, Christian, Rae, and so many others empowered me to dream big and to always stand up for what I believe in. At 18, after countless hours of volunteering and being part of a youth group, I landed my dream job. Supporting our youth and our community for the past five years has been full of doing the work i’ve always wanted to do which is always moving with passion, kindness & thoughtfulness.

My life goals are simple to absorb as much knowledge as possible, escuchar todas las historias de nuestra gente, to keep learning, teaching, and sharing in a never ending cycle of love and passion.

To every young person I’ve had the privilege of meeting and connecting with over these past five years thank you! You are true teachers and healers, full of love, passion, and hope. I hope you all know that just as I may have made an impact on you, you DEFINITELY have made the biggest impact on me.
I hope you continue to move with love, light, and passion in everything you do. Even though I will no longer be at Rainbow, I am still here in community.
