Reporting success! Today 100 children of Kumwalo village returned to school, thanks to two completed campaigns: (1) eradicating the bedbugs decimating their village, and (2) raising the funds to buy their school supplies so that they can properly participating in their learning. Many thanks to all the donors and customers at the Concord International Festival on September 21st, purchasing Budhumbuli aprons and other Revy items, or making direct donations to the goal. Please help support Ugandan sisters Joan and Loy as they seek to become self-supporting teachers. They were rescued from their impoverished home in 2016 and began school then -- very successfully!

Unfortunately, their Canadian sponsor recently encountered a devastating financial situation and can no longer help them. We've made a goal of covering their tuition and transport* for six months at a time, unless a permanent sponsor can be found.

*We have found that transport for our sponsored girls is essential, due to the dangers of women walking alone. One young woman was abducted by three men (and fortunately rescued, with difficulty!) in 2022 on her walk home from training.

Inspired by the story of Stella's recovery following abduction, a brave young woman named Prossy escaped her captors after four years. She arrived safely in Immeri village with her boys, three-year-old Byansi, and one-year-old Muyomba, after hearing the village name in the radio announcements during our search for Stella.

Prossy was abducted at age 13, her parents were too poor to pay for a recovery team, and she suffered at the hands of her captors, including r**e and forced marriage.

Now that she has regained her freedom, she and her boys are in need of basic necessities: food, shelter, and medical care including vaccinations for the boys.

The small family is temporarily staying with a proxy grandfather in Immeri.

Long term plans will include job training so Prossy can be self-sufficient and have more control over her future.
