🐻✨ A Bus Full of Love from Burke! ✨🐻

This past Wednesday, our amazing friends at Burke United Methodist Church in Burke, Virginia delivered a busload of thousands of stuffed animals to support our Teddy Bear Brigade! 💛
This heartwarming donation has become an annual tradition, and we’re beyond grateful. They even included a generous financial gift to help us continue spreading comfort and hope to children in need. A special shoutout to Jim, their dedicated volunteer who drove four hours each way to bring these cuddly companions to us!

We want to extend a very special thank-you to the anonymous donor who recently gifted a box full of brand-new stuffed animals for our Teddy Bear Brigade — each one complete with a sweet note introducing themselves! 🐻💬

Since our founding in 1998, Gleaning For The World has shared over 35,000 stuffed animals each year with children throughout Virginia, across the U.S., and around the globe. These cuddly companions bring healing, hope, and comfort to kids facing trauma, illness, or simply in need of a smile — whether after a disaster, during hospitalization, or as a cherished Christmas gift.

We want to give a special THANK YOU to Donna and Jessica for dropping off stuffed animals for our Teddy Bear Brigade just a few days ago! These stuffed animals will bring a smile to children facing difficult circumstances. Do you have stuffed animals you'd like to donate? You can ship them to us or drop them off at our Volunteer Center. The address for both is 7539 Stage Road Concord, VA 24538. We ask that all donated stuffed animals be clean, without stains, and in good condition.

Today is Party with a Bear day! Today is a great day to throw a Bon Voyage party for your collection of stuffed animals and send them on their way to our Teddy Bear Brigade! Our TBB program exists to bring smiles to children who are facing difficult and often traumatic circumstances. Folks from all over the U.S. (and sometimes from overseas) ship their stuffed animals to our Volunteer Center at 7539 Stage Road Concord, VA 24538. Our volunteers sort and inspect each stuffed animal before carefully placing them in boxes for the children to receive. You can learn more or donate financially to this program at GFTW.org

The Bedford Museum & Genealogical Library just finished their yearly collection of “stuffies” donated to Gleaning For The World’s Teddy Bear Brigade program. The museum, located in the heart of downtown Bedford collected 96 “stuffies” over the Christmas holidays that will be sorted and packed for children in disaster areas, orphanages and hospitals here locally and around the world. What a great blessing!

These adorable stuffed animals arrived at our warehouse this week as part of Gleaning's Teddy Bear Brigade program. Every single week of the year we receive stuffed animals that are shipped to us from across the United State (and even overseas). But to receive a reindeer at Christmas? He won't be here long before he's packed up and sent on his way to warm a child's heart somewhere across the globe. Hmmmmm......!

We deliver that same love and joy to children who have survived natural disasters, as well as children living in extreme poverty (some, who have never owned a toy before!) We collect and distribute approximately 35,000 stuffed animals each year and send them all over the world!

Gleaning provides essential supplies for families and individuals here in the U.S. and around the world. Food, warm socks and blankets, as well hygiene items and medical supplies are all important items we give away, but the thing that brings the most smiles is our collection of stuffed animals in our Teddy Bear Brigade. We distribute about 35,000 stuffed animals each year sometimes to the poorest corners of the earth and given to children who have never owned a toy before. Oh, their smiles are priceless!

We do things a little differently around here. You see, most nonprofits will not accept donations of gently used stuffed animals. But at Gleaning, we see their value! When we’re responding to hurricanes, tornados, flooding, fires and more, we deliver clean gently used and brand new stuffed animals to children who have experienced trauma during or after a natural disaster. When we’re providing food, bottles of water, and hygiene supplies to the grownups during a disaster relief effort, we’ve always got friendly little plush toys to bring joy and comfort to young boys and girls, too. The smiles these toys bring are priceless. When you donate to our Teddy Bear Brigade, you’re helping to cover the costs to get these precious gifts to children who may have just lost their own favorite stuffed animal, their home, or worse… a loved one in the storm.
