'THE LORAX' by Dr. Seuss - Read by Danny DeVito"

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and there is no better way to celebrate this occasion than to have Dr. Seuss’s good friend Danny DeVito read 'The Lorax'.

Today, on this 50th anniversary of Earth Day the Lorax’s message is even more relevant. Dr. Seuss’s beloved story teaches all of us to speak up and make a difference. The Lorax tells the story, in a playful and hopeful way, of the beautiful Truffula Trees and the danger of taking our earth for granted. The book teaches us that just one small seed, or one small child, can make a difference.

“UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

What is everyone doing to promote sustainability during these trying times? We are rooting for you all!

Dear Council Members,

In light of the public health emergency regarding COVID-19, The Bridges House Youth Sustainability Council Meeting on April 9, 2020 has been cancelled in an effort to follow guidelines on social distancing and health safety practices during this time.

Please be on the lookout for emails and Facebook posts for any updates on future events, including the Sustainability Expo, which will be postponed from its current May 2nd date (additional details will be forthcoming).

Our focus is, as always, on the health and safety of our students throughout the Granite State. We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to sharing future opportunities to engage students as they arise.

Stay healthy and take care!

Sincerely,

The BHYSC Team

Dear Friend of BHYSC,

Our focus is, as always, on the health and safety of our students throughout the Granite State. In light of the public health emergency regarding COVID-19, The Bridges House Youth Sustainability Council in coordination with the University of New Hampshire has adjusted the UNH Sustainability Tour scheduled for March 28th to a webinar format to do our part in slowing the spread of the virus.

The webinar will still take place on March 28th at 11:00 am, but this is a great opportunity for distance learning in a virtual setting during this challenging time. Participants should not visit the UNH campus for the originally scheduled event. Instead, please use the link below to register to join us virtually for the one-hour webinar. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing instructions about joining the webinar.

In lieu of a roundtable discussion of projects students are preparing for the May Expo, students are encouraged to reach out to [email protected] with any questions directly if they wish to discuss their ideas or ask questions.

We want to make every effort possible to further help communities remain safe and healthy during this time. Please be on the lookout for emails or Like our page for any updates on future events as a result of this fluid situation, including the May Sustainability Expo which will be postponed from its current date.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to you joining us for the webinar!

Sincerely,

The BHYSC Team
