Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and honors the long struggle for freedom, dignity, and equal opportunity.
As union members, we recognize that the fight for economic justice and workplace equality is ongoing.
Juneteenth reminds us that progress is achieved when people stand together, organize, and refuse to accept injustice.

Today, we honor the resilience, contributions, and sacrifices of Black Americans who helped build our nation and strengthened the labor movement.

We recommit ourselves to the principles of solidarity, equality, and opportunity for all.

An injury to one is an injury to all.

Happy Juneteenth.

It’s Never Too Late to Start a Trade
One of the biggest myths out there is that apprenticeships are only for 18-year-olds. They’re not.
People start trade careers in their 30s, 40s, and even 50s. Some are changing careers. Some are raising kids. Some are looking for better pay, benefits, and a future they can be proud of.
Is it easy? No.
Working full time, attending classes at night, and still being present for your family requires sacrifice. There will be long days and tired evenings. But thousands of apprentices prove every year that it can be done.
You don’t have to put your life on hold to build a better one.
Your children don’t need to see perfection. They need to see determination. They need to see what it looks like when Mom or Dad invests in themselves, keeps their promises, and refuses to settle.
An apprenticeship isn’t just about learning a trade. It’s about building a career, earning while you learn, providing for your family, and creating opportunities that can last a lifetime.
So if you’ve ever thought:
“Am I too old?”
“Can I do this with kids?”
“Can I work and go to school?”
The answer is yes.
Your timeline doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
It’s never too late to bet on yourself.
⚡ The best time to start was years ago. The second-best time is today.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our Election Judge, Josh Bursey. Josh volunteered a lot of time for this important role and it resulted in a very smooth process for us all.

Also, thank you to the tellers Steve Phillips and Shawnna Donahue who volunteered their time to ensure a fair, accurate, and transparent election process. Your hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated.

This election was decided by some very close vote totals, demonstrating just how important every single vote is. The outcome of multiple races came down to only a couple of votes, proving that member participation truly makes a difference.

For those who may have been unable to attend in person, remember that absentee ballots are available during our elections. Whether you vote in person or by absentee ballot, your voice matters and helps shape the future of our Local.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this election. Strong member involvement is what keeps our Union strong. Congratulations again to all those elected, and I look forward to working together for the benefit of our membership.

Happy Mother’s Day to the blue collar moms who punch the clock, work overtime, carry the weight, and still make it home to take care of everyone else.

To the moms in steel toes, work boots, uniforms, safety vests, hard hats, and worn-out gloves… your strength doesn’t just build roads, wire buildings, drive trucks, run jobsites, stock shelves, care for communities, and keep this country moving… it builds families too.

You show your kids what hard work looks like. What sacrifice looks like. What resilience looks like.
Early mornings. Long shifts. Sore backs. Dirty hands. Endless responsibilities. And somehow, you still show up with love, grit, and determination every single day.
Today we celebrate the women who work hard both on the job and at home.

The moms raising strong families while helping build the world around us.
Happy Mother’s Day to every hardworking blue collar mom out there.

You are appreciated more than words can say.
