The Kung Fu Spirit Foundation offers classes in Self Defense, Bullying Awareness & Prevention, and Start Strong - an 8 hour course on alcohol, drug & to***co facts, and decision making skills He’s been training all his life (well, since he was about 10). He’s won numerous awards and competitions, earned numerous titles and was the International 4 Star Grand Champion. He has been teaching kung fu f
or over 35 years. He’s also trained in shaui chiao, san shou, and eskrima. I’ve been training since 2000, and teaching kung fu for 16+ years. I have always been involved with kids; from my first W-2 job was as a swim instructor at Clarke Pool/Heather Farms to camp counselor to coaching soccer for 17+ years. In 2001, I was trained by the Center for Human Development to be a parent volunteer in the classroom, teaching about decision making skills, age appropriate drug/alcohol facts and dealing with peer pressure. I volunteered at Valle Verde Elementary, Walnut Acres Elementary, Indian Valley Elementary, Foothill Intermediate, Walnut Creek Intermediate and Northgate High School for 16 years. In 2012 I was certified to become a trainer. I worked for the Center of Human Development teaching other parents to become volunteers. I also worked for TEG (To***co Education Group) teaching in high schools. Daniel was trained by the Center for Human Development in 2010 and joined me in volunteering at Indian Valley Elementary, Walnut Creek Intermediate and Foothill Intermediate. Together, we have four kids (and three dogs!). In 2007, we opened our own kung fu school - Tomizaki’s Champions Kung Fu Institute. We have always stressed the importance of giving back to the community. Over the years, we’ve collected over 1200 lbs of food the the Food Bank, held fundraisers raising $1200 for the Bay Area Crisis Nursery, $9500 for the Red Cross and over $2000 for the Special Olympics. In 2019, the Kung Fu Spirit Foundation was formed, a non-profit whose mission is to utilize the traits and benefits of traditional kung fu to help others. With the help of numerous volunteers and sponsors, they’ve hosted Bullying Prevention Workshops with materials purchased from The Bully Project. They’ve taught self defense in schools and offices. They’ve taught 8 hour courses, over 4 weeks, educating kids of the effects of alcohol & drugs. With continued fundraising, the goal is to be able to bring these programs to schools, offices, or wherever requested.
