🧡 “I love my language... The more I learn about my people helps with being confident in myself.”

One youth shared this reflection after attending last year’s Cheyenne and Arapaho Culture Enrichment Encampment:

“This is my first time being here and this has been such an amazing experience. I love my language and expanding my vocabulary. My journey here has really made me feel more grateful for who I am… The more I learn about my people helps with being confident in myself, knowing I am more than what people describe me as.”

This is why the camp matters.

Storytelling Builds Identity. Stories teach more than history. They teach us who we are.

At the 2025 Cheyenne and Arapaho Culture Enrichment Encampment, Elders share traditional stories that pass on values, life lessons, and Native languages. These stories build confidence, connection, and cultural pride.

Every Moment Counts: “My grandpa taught me my first word — hohóu (thank you).”

One camper’s favorite moment? Riding horses — and remembering the Elder who taught them their first word.

🌄 Go Beyond a Land Acknowledgment. Words matter. Action matters more.

Last year, Arapaho youth left camp speaking more of their language — filled with stories from Elders and stronger in their cultural identity.

This summer, you can help make that happen again. The 2025 Cheyenne and Arapaho Culture Enrichment Encampment is a week-long, Elder-led experience in Rocky Mountain National Park and near Boulder, Colo., that centers language, storytelling, and tradition.
