Intact male with a stumpy tail, probably around 2 years old.

He showed up in the neighborhood of Orange Rock Rd off of Hillcrest a couple of weeks ago.

URGENT: Missing dogs!

Pepper (spayed female, 5 years old) and Shiloh (neutered male, 4 years old).

They were posted on Craigslist and re-homed a couple of weeks ago from a man off of Blue Diamond in Concho.

The man is the ex-husband of the dogs' owner, and he re-homed them without their owner's knowledge or permission.

The dogs are very much loved, and their rightful owner desperately wants them back. 💔💔💔

Little Wing UPDATE:

Back in June, we received a 6-week-old kitten with multiple facial injuries and
severe nerve damage to her right foreleg (most likely the result of predation by a dog, coyote, or raptor).
Because she was so small and fragile, we had to wait over two months for her to gain enough weight and strength to endure the necessary surgery.

Finally, last week she had her paralyzed right foreleg amputated.
She is healing nicely, but continues to suffer from chronic eye infections.

Hopefully, now that her injured limb has been removed, her immune system will be able to recover and her eyes will finally be able to heal.

Back in early May of this year, we received a tiny 1-week-old kitten who had been abandoned by his mother.
He was a classic failure-to-thrive baby, with below-average weight, lethargic attitude, and no desire to suckle.

He was so tiny, I placed a nickel next to him in his intake photo for scale.

I fed him every couple of hours via gastric tube for several weeks, and amazingly he survived long enough to get to the point where he could eat on his own.

Although tiny, he just kept going.

Now, at four months old, he still weighs only 1.8 pounds,🥺 less than half of what he should weigh.

But something amazing has happened...

A woman contacted CAA last week wanting to know if we had any tiny kittens who could be a companion for the 5-week-old bottle-baby she had rescued.

We didn't have any bottle babies in foster care; only older kittens.
But Nickel was almost exactly the same size as her little one.

So he has been adopted, and is settling into his "big brother" role (although little Tuffy will undoubtedly outgrow him in a matter of weeks 😆).

Nickel (now Finnegan) is a true tiny miracle, and we are so grateful he has found a human who can appreciate how unique and special he is! 🥲💕

This sweet mama's last two kittens were just re-homed, but she's still lactating and in full mama-mode.
She would LOVE to have more kittens to nurse. 💔🐱💕

A little over a week ago, we received a message from someone whose kitten had hidden from the storms in the engine compartment of their truck.

Unaware that he was there, they started their vehicle. 😞

Miraculously, "Queso" survived, but sustained numerous deep lacerations and a fractured foreleg.

Two days ago, he underwent surgery to pin his humerus. The surgery was successful, but now only time will tell whether he will regain use of the limb, or whether there was too much nerve damage.

Please hold little Queso in your thoughts and prayers as he embarks on his healing journey! 🥹💕🙏

"So, if CAA isn't a shelter, what do you guys actually DO...?" 🤔

I just finished compiling our activity and expenses report for the month of August.
It was a pretty typical month, so I thought you might be interested in seeing what we've been up to:

CAA provided appointments for:
4 dog spays ($440),
1 dog neuter ($170),
6 cat spays ($360),
4 cat neuters ($200),
3 medical visits ($935);
Provided 3 microchips, 3 Rabies vaccines, and administered 31 DAPP vaccines ($640).

We had 13 dogs/puppies and 1 cat surrendered to us.

We adopted out 11 kittens and 1 adult dog.

We transported 13 dogs/puppies to the AZ Animal Welfare League in Phoenix, and 10 dogs/puppies to the Humane Society of Sedona.

We still have over 30 cats/kittens in foster care, and a dozen dogs/puppies.

There are over 50 cats and over 20 dogs on the waiting list for spay/neuter appointments.

We are doing our best to keep up, but we are always in need of donations (both monetary and in the form of pet food, towels, pet beds, etc.) and people willing to volunteer to foster animals.

Please help us continue to help the animals of Concho and our neighboring communities!
