Praying everyone is safe from the tornado that hit near us.

We've been experiencing massive lightening storms, extremely loud thunder, small hail mixed with rain showers and a few very scared animals.

Everyone is safe and we're hoping this storm passes through quickly.

Our area has a 2% chance of experiencing a tornado. Thankfully our founder grew up with tornados and understands whats needed to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Right now we're all praying it avoids the sanctuary. 🙏

🌪️ Elevated tornado risk in Arizona! A very unusual setup is at play on October 21 where rich Pacific moisture will meet with wind shear and lift across Arizona. This will lead to some severe storms and supercells capable of large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes!

We received a call that a horse is in need of emergency placement due to her health. While our horse program is full, we have squeezed in an additional pen so that we can save her.

Unfortunately, other equine rescues couldn't help because they are probably at capacity. We didn't believe the only other option was to euthanize. Instead, we will give this gal named Zoey a home for life at the Sanctuary.

Zoey will be transported this week.

Any donations for Zoey's medical needs and feeding program are gratefully appreciated. Sadly, horses take a lot of funds to save and to get back to a healthy state.

Star, one of the dogs from animal control who went through our foster program, is being returned to us because, after several months, she started killing the family's pasture raised chickens.

Star is about 25 lbs, 2 years old, housetrained, crate trained, great with kids and adults, good with most other dogs on a slow introduction. No cats or chickens. She is spayed and microchipped.

Star is a wonderful little dog, truly a sweetheart. She is available for adoption through Great Spirit Animal Sanctuary. Please share to find her the right home. If interested, please send a text to our foster Tedi at 928-245-8704. A home visit will be part of the adoption process. Star is located in the Arizona White Mountains.

🐾💚 WELCOME TO THE SANCTUARY, KY! 💚🐾

Ky has officially arrived at Great Spirit Animal Sanctuary! 🐶❤️

She’s feeling a little scared right now, and that’s completely understandable. New surroundings, new faces, and a whole new life can be overwhelming. We’ll give Ky the time, patience, and love she needs to decompress and learn that she’s safe.

Once she settles in and starts feeling at home, we know there are so many wonderful adventures ahead of her! 🌿🐾 She deserves the chance to simply be a dog, enjoy life, and discover what it feels like to be safe and loved.

A HUGE thank-you to Tails of Love for transferring this unadoptable girl to us and, just as importantly, for donating initial supplies to help Ky get started on her new journey! 💚 Rescue partnerships make second chances possible, and we are grateful to work together for dogs who need a different kind of future.

Ky, your hard days are behind you. Welcome to your sanctuary family! 🏡🐕

💚 Help us continue providing sanctuary for animals who have nowhere else to turn.
