🚨🌶️ COMPTON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT CHILI SUPPER 🚨🌶️

This years will be a little extra special as the we will be honoring some of our long serving firefighters/first responders. We invite everyone in the community, surrounding areas, and fellow department members to come help us celebrate.

On 8/2/2026, the Compton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported dumpster fire. Upon arrival, responders located the container and subsequently applied water to extinguish the smoldering contents and chance of the dumpster to reignite.

The department extends its thanks to the property owners neighbor for their quick efforts to relocate the dumpster on fire to a safe location and away from nearby objects, structures, and utilities till the fire department could arrive.

At 9:28 am, Compton VFD received a mutual aid request to assist Kingston VFD with a vehicle fire in Madison County. Upon arrival the vehicle was fully engulfed however all occupants evacuated safely.

On the evening of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Compton VFD responded to two reported fire incidents. The first report was received at 7:29 pm, involving hay bales ablaze within a barn structure. Upon arrival, responders, assisted by neighboring Compton community members and the property owners, promptly initiated firefighting efforts, targeting the blaze emanating from the hay bales and the partially ignited barn structure. The results from the fire were loss of bales, partially burned wood stored in structure and the barn structure sustained some fire damage. The second report was received at 9:15 pm, involving a reported house fire with smoke but no visible flames. Responders quickly deployed a team to the scene with additional units on standby, while a second team replenished water supplies depleted from the first report to aid in the second operation. Mutual aid from Kingston VFD responders arrived first on scene and assessed that the situation appeared contained with no fire present, allowing all units to return to their stations.

The department again thanks all responders, neighbors and other departments for aiding in a busy night for the Compton Community.

Sunday morning, 6/28, Compton VFD was paged out for a fully engulfed house fire with 2 individuals inside.
On arrival responders located the couple outside and miraculously they didn't need medical care.
Mutual Aid was provided by Harrison FD, Mt Sherman VFD, Hilltop VFD and Ponca VFD.
NARMC ambulance crews, Newton County SO, and Newton County OEM were also on scene. I apologize if I missed listing any agency or department. It was a busy scene!
Firefighters did an amazing job of saving the nearby shed and home owners car.
