Re: Funds Raised from Mother’s Day Flower Sale
First and foremost, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who plans or has contributed in any way to our Annual Mother’s Day Flower Sale. Previously, the sale had been hosted by the Scioto Township Volunteer Fireman’s Association but over the past 4 years, it has transitioned to be a fundraiser hosted by Local 4000. This transition has greatly helped in our ability to properly distribute funds directly to the community.
Local 4000 is a nationally recognized labor union chartered by the International Association of Firefighters that exists to support, protect, and assist our members. Local 4000 is funded by its members. For as long as I have been apart of Local 4000, it has also existed to support the community through donations, events, and assistance. For that I am thankful.
In order for us to be able to support the community, we rely on the community also supporting us. Money collected from the flower sale has been used to support many local organizations over the years and will continue to be used as such. Most recently, Local 4000 was able to donate money to Scioto Kids Association for the creation of their Tee Ball diamonds. Funds raised during the flower sale also have helped us create our free back to school event where we assist with school supplies for children throughout the community. Most recently, we just completed our second Pancakes with Santa event that is also free to the community as a result of funds raised during the Flower Sale. Simply put, our investment into the community is a direct result of the investment our community has put into us. We are eternally thankful.
I hope this glance into why we do this flower sale has been refreshing to some. At the end of the day, my reasoning and my “why” for the flower sale has and always will be to support the community. Our sale has been getting bigger and better every year and everyone who has attended and purchased has been a major reason why. I hope to continue this tradition year after year, continue supporting the community with it, and each year growing bigger and better. From the bottom of my heart, and the hearts of all of our members - THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
