A HUGE Thank You to Chloe Eavy, age 7 from Ann Arbor, MI.

This incredibly thoughtful second grader wanted to have a Lemonade stand this summer to earn money towards a charity. Her amazing Mom, Nancy Eavy, gave her three choices of charities and throughly explained what and who each charity would be helping. Chloe raised a whopping $500.00 towards Jacob's Fight! She chose my Jake as her inspiration! Not only to help him in his honor, but all the other boys and girls who fight cancer too! September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month. Today, I will honor you -Chloe Eavy. Thank you for being such a great example of what giving for/to others looks like. Especially at 7 years old! My Jacob's Fight Foundation is honored!

Cancer Survivors Suffer Long-Term Side Effects

ATLANTA – August 31, 2015 – Two in three survivors of childhood cancer endure debilitating side effects and late effects from their cancer treatment that cause significant suffering throughout their lives, a sobering message as the nation observes Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September.

While cancers in children make up less than 1 percent of all cancers diagnosed each year, cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in in children ages 5 to 14. The American Cancer Society estimates that 10,380 children under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States in 2015. Childhood cancer rates have been rising slightly for the past few decades. The reasons are unknown.
