Feeding Colorado is an association of the five Feeding America food banks in Colorado, collaborating and leveraging their combined strengths to reach people in every county, every day. Member food banks include Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado, Community Food Share, Food Bank for Larimer County, Food Bank of the Rockies, and Weld Food Bank. Together, we serve all of Colorado and Wyoming by providing nourishing meals through direct service programs and a network of more than 1,300 Hunger Relief Partners.

Feeding Colorado recently joined congressional candidate Melat Kiros for a tour of Food Bank of the Rockies during Hunger Action Month to talk about our network and the enormous impact federal nutrition programs make on our ability to meet the needs of our neighbors. The food insecurity rate in Denver is 1 in 6, and Food Bank of the Rockies distributed over 89 million pounds of food last year. We elevated numerous opportunities the next Congress will have to move the needle on hunger in our communities!

Senator Michael Bennet’s Northern Regional Director James Thompson recently visited Food Bank for Larimer County to speak with us about the need food banks and food pantries have been seeing. The most recent data from 2024 found the food insecurity rate in Larimer County at 12.3%, or about 45,250 Coloradans. Food Bank for Larimer County distributed nearly 10 million pounds of food last year through 104 partner agencies to feed neighbors in need!

We are seeking a versatile, self-directed professional who can carry both the storytelling and the revenue sides of a lean statewide association. You will shape how Feeding Colorado shows up publicly, build the fundraising infrastructure that sustains our policy and advocacy work, and coordinate closely with the communications and development teams at our five member food banks.

Feeding Colorado Board Chair and Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado CEO Nate Springer was in Washington, D.C. this month. He met with many of our members of Congress and highlighted the need our network is seeing and the importance of critical federal nutrition programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program and SNAP. We are grateful for the strong bipartisan relationships we maintain with our congressional delegation and look forward to the continued work to support anti-hunger programs and Colorado farmers and producers.

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser toured Community Food Share this week for Hunger Action Month and hosted a press conference to highlight the delivery of 43,000 eggs secured through an antitrust price-fixing settlement. The delivery is the first of many more in what will amount to over 2 million that will be distributed throughout the state.

We are grateful to the Attorney General for this critical support and look forward to continued partnership to address food insecurity!

Last week we joined Feeding America CEO Denis McDonough, Rep. Jeff Crank, and Care and Share Food Bank for the annual Patriot Day veteran distribution which supports hundreds of local veterans and their families with fresh food! The event brings together service members, veterans, and first responders for a day of honor and recognition every day on the anniversary of 9/11. We are eternally grateful for their sacrifice.

We were later able to welcome Denis to a partner agency and Care and Share Food Bank where we hosted a tour and roundtable discussion about food insecurity throughout southern and western Colorado and the incredible efforts of our network.
