National Police Week Memorial Service

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office invites you to join us for our annual National Police Week Memorial Service as we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. Each year, we pause to honor our peace officers for their service and sacrifice.

National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives protecting others. It also serves as an opportunity to thank those who continue to wear the badge with courage and dedication.

Here in Kendall County, we are proud to stand behind the men and women who selflessly serve our community and help keep our county safe.

We invite everyone to attend and stand with us in remembrance, gratitude, and support.

Very happy to provide dinner to the students of the Citizens Law Enforcement Academy. This is a very informative and engaging way to see what Law Enforcement does on a daily basis.

Another incredible week at our Citizens Law Enforcement Academy!

We kicked off the evening with some delicious Jersey Mike’s, generously provided by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Foundation. While everyone enjoyed their meal, attendees had the opportunity to hear from Foundation President Brian Yarnell about the important work being done to support our agency and community.

From there, we dove straight into the world of DWI investigations.

Participants learned the science behind Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and how deputies make critical decisions in the field.

To bring it all together, we conducted a hands-on exercise with four volunteers who consumed varying amounts of alcohol, ranging from no intoxication to right at the legal limit, with a couple in between. Attendees then applied what they learned by evaluating each volunteer to determine whether they would make an arrest.

It was an engaging and eye-opening experience for everyone involved.

Another great week of learning, growth, and building stronger connections with our community!

Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day,

We would like to say thank you to all the LEO in Kendall County and around the nation for the work you do on a daily basis keeping our communities safe. From the SRO's interacting with our youth to those that patrol the streets, to those that investigate the unfortunate crime that happens. We appreciate your commitment to your communities.

When you come across a LEO today, give them a wave and let them know we appreciate them.

And from the KCSOF, have a blessed day.
