Today is the first day of our Energy Assistance application window, running from September 1-22 for the upcoming Energy Season. Unlike past years, we will keep this application window open for the full three weeks and will accept both call-in and online applications. This means there is no rush to apply - simply submit your application sometime between today and September 22.

Read more about how to apply on our website:

In past years, there were several times to apply during the season. Some applications were by phone, and some were online. This year, there will be one 3-week application window: September 1-22, 2026, for the whole season.

Please join us for the 3rd Annual Palouse Regional Butterfly Release in Colfax on September 12!

The Butterfly Release is a free, community-wide celebration of lives event. Prior to the butterfly release on Sept 12th at Schmuck Park, participants submit the names of their loved ones to be shared during the ceremony. After we have recognized each loved one, our wonderful volunteers distribute butterflies to the attendees - each person gets one butterfly at the event, though they are welcome to submit more than one name.

The butterflies come to us sleeping (and a little chilly) and begin to wake up from the warmth of attendees' hands. Participants can take as long as they need with the butterflies; taking pictures, speaking messages for the butterflies to carry onto their loved ones, and reflecting on the beauty of life that these wonderful creatures symbolize.
